I so enjoy your videos and am learning a lot. Having recently retired, my “to do” list of things I’ve wanted to do and never had time is quite long. This winter, I plan to identify all the attachments I have for my various sewing machines and master the use of each of them. Why? Because I can!

Very often those attachement are doing a better job then those so called automatic machines. My Singer 90-15 is still my best one with even bottonholer then my Brillance ti do the same Job. Thanks Sewing machine garage for all your advice.

I am enjoying your videos. Reminiscing with my 401A. I picked up that darning foot attachment at a garage sale many years ago and have actually used it. I have the buttonhole attachment even though there are directions as to how to construct one using the zigzag stitches. I also picked up a monogram attachment at a house sale. Then there’s the walking foot for quilting. The machine came with a number of different feet, another throat plate for straight stitching and 4 extra cams. You might be interested to know it was purchased by my husband to be in 1960. We still had a year to go before we were to be married and he showed it to me telling me that when I married him the machine would be mine as well🤗💕 yes I still have the machine and never will part with it, it’s a workhorse having been used on everything from wedding gowns to tent repair!

So glad you shared this Louise. It's not often we get to hear of "One Owner" vintage sewing machines the way you sometimes hear of folks who have owned the same car for decades.

Hello, thank you for this video. This week I went to the eco centro (eco center) and did question the person in charge about sewing attachement, box, pieces... I am sure he thought I was completely crazy. Here this centre is attach to a store that resell a lot of discard things from books to furniture and everything you can think off. EXCEPT sewing stuff!!! I even went to see the metal bin hoping that a Necchi or Bernina metal box would be waiting for me on the top! I got offered to go volunteer on Saturdays! He told me that I could not just save for myself! I might go volunteer because it drives me crazy to see what people just trow in the bin not thinking about others.

Thank you Martha. We all learn from each other. Nearly 9 years ago, I had no knowledge of these machines or how to restore them. When you see all of the attachments that people once used, it was largely due to not having computer software and programming to allow people to push a button to accomplish sewing techniques. But as we know, digital tech gets outdated quickly and many if not all of the early digital sewing machines are either broken or "No longer supported" by the manufacturer. I like mechanical machines because I find that they are more repairable than later plastic machines which were designed to wear out.

Thank you for the video. Several years ago, my sister and I darned some socks using the Singer Darning attachment. They came out perfectly and it was a LOT of fun. :) Marsha

I have a few vintage feet and most were just in a box or bag with no instructions or names on them. Some I have figured out, but some are still a mystery to me. My mother had a Kenmore that came with those design cams but never really used them.

I loved you videos, and the new information as to the extra parts . I bought a HUSQVARNA 21 A and it came with a full box with SINGER accessories - can they be used on my mashine ?
@VintageSewingMachineGarage
@VintageSewingMachineGarage Жыл бұрын
It really depend on the accessories you have. Some items, such as Buttonholer attachments for instance, may not fit, but if your Singer attachments are Low Shank type, then many of those such as the presser feet 'should' fit.

@@VintageSewingMachineGarage Thank you very much. Do you have any video demonstrating how to fix a frozen bottom feeder mechanism ??? - it seems that I've bought 2 Husvarna cl 21 recently, where one has a very low bottom feeder the other has a frozen one ... the small pin does not come out when the button with the white dot is moved from 6:00 to 12:00. I have a problem unscrewing the big bottom plate, have unscrewed the little plate under to the right

I had found a buttonholer at someone's house in the red box, all the parts were there but weren't for my machine. I should have bought it anyway, they were only asking $10 for it.

Clearly you know what you are talking about, but after watching several of your videos the grunting sounds you make are rather off-putting. I see some honey with lemon in your future. Or it's a nervous tick?

Especially when you are offering so much great information (it's a lot of talking, which can strain anyone's throat) for those of us that are researching how to care for our vintage machines, who are gracious enough not to make comments like that because they aren't needed.

I have watched dozens of his videos and I have no idea what you are talking about. That aside, what is it about the anonymity of the internet that seems to make people think that rude comments they would never make to someone in person are acceptable behind a screen?
