I saw Yes in 1984 and 2012. The latter performance Chris Squire was pretty sloppy yet passable. He rocked the three neck bass for a couple songs and was entertaining. Alan White was horrible. He could barely play. I'll bet his drum mics were turned up so loud they were afraid the PA would get major feedbcack. Steve Howe was on fire. He may have missed the first two records but he really kept this band alive. Geoffrey Downs was killing those keyboard too. I do believe Yes died with Chris Squire but those two guys will at least push the band live. Getting rid of Alan White necessary to achieve that goal though.

@@genericusername1365they are the perfect example of why financial success and popularity do not equate to quality... Assaulting the senses during live shows in the hopes of masking their objectively terrible music and blatant lack of talent... Also a great example of why the US isn't a democracy.. the founders understood that people as a whole are bafflingly stupid. So they realized that more often than not, the majority/popular opinion is usually the wrong one.. therefore, just because they have a rabid (and vapid) fanbase that aren't capable of independent and critical thought. Otherwise they'd have abandoned them decades ago after realizing ace was the most talented by a mile, but also recognizing that he was mediocre at best... I personally would just like to see gene, one note solo, disappear into obscurity like he should have years ago or just never been in a band because he's absolutely the worst bassist in recorded history. Just ahead of lemmy, who is objectively one of the worst singers in the history of the human voice .. Motorhead is just nonsensical garage noise for alcoholic wastes of flesh..., period. Brought my boy to see them a few years ago at the Minnesota State Fair. To me, the only person that was present was the pianist. He was actually having fun. Whomever was singing was chewing gum. Really. There was 2 opening acts, neither of which I would pay for before going to this show. Once seeing them, I changed my mind. Collective Soul. Yeah I know, but they were up there having fun and putting on a show. Not a fan, but I would see them again because they brought it. They performed. Even though they had better songs, Lynyrd Skynyrd did not. Big disappointment. Also, brought the boy to Mötley Crüe's "all bad things must come to an end" tour. Only because tickets weren't selling, parking cost as much as the tickets. Alice Cooper opened. Alice brought it, Crüe didn't. Tommy had a big roller coaster upside down rolling whatever, but played along to other peoples music like he was in his basement. Could have been much better, but nope. Neil Peart he is not. I would go tsee Alice again. Not Crüe. Plus, that was supposed to be their retirement tour. Supposed to be.

Musicians will always be musicians. We marvel as rock ‘n’ roll fans at bands like the stones in their 70s still touring but nobody bats an eye about a classical piano player or violinist still touring in their 90s. Musicians will do what musicians do, play music. My only complaint are the ticket prices for some of these bands, I’d rather see them in a much smaller venue for an affordable price otherwise I’ll just go see a tribute band that actually tries harder.
@Jmr-o5eАй бұрын
Because rock musicians’ youth is an essential - not an optional - part of their appeal. Think of the who’s first hit: i hope i die before i get old. Noe imagine the who as a bunch of 80-year olds singing that in a stadium of screaming fans. It doesnt work. Also, unlike classicial musicians, rock musicians lose their ability to play sing dance and scream as they age. Rock is all about projecting a very high - sometimes insane - level of energy, and very few people over 50/60 can do it. Mick jagger certainly cannot do it. So the stones are a sad caricature of what they were. Sure some people will pY good money to watch the caricature, because it takes them back to the time when they themselves were young and vital. But there is something sad about it. I watched all these band coming up, saw many of them live, they should just give it up.

Well, the truth is that rock 'n roll is the internal fountain of youth. Which you will probably never understand until you have been in someone's shoes. This is what they do for a living, and they love it. Old music is killing new music. I just read an article that both Queen and Bob Marley albums have re-entered both the Billboard and Spotify charts; they have never really left. The truth is most of today's new music sucks. All the more power to these guys if they still want to perform. Some was telling me they recently saw John Fogerty from CCR in concert, and he rocked big time. He has had so much experience performing live and knows how to connect with an audience that a lot of new artists just don't have. It makes a difference.

How dare you add Metallica to this list. Have you heard them live lately? Especially the Elton John cover of Funeral for a Friend/ Love Lies Bleeding. They are peaking once again in live performances. People have been saying Metallica sold out since Ride the Lightning album with the song Fade to Black. One of their best songs btw. People saying they sold out nowadays are ridiculous since they own their own label and have no one to answer to. Why stop playing when you can sell out any stadium in the world at will? They still have it and will continue on.

How old IS this video?? The Who are DONE!! Half the band is dead and they called it quits years ago after Kenny couldn't cut Keith's mustard! And, Alan White died at least a year ago! I THINK that pretty much took the wind of Yes' sails. Limp Biskit was lame from the start! If they ARE still together, it's news to me! Same with Motley Crue! I thought they gave it up decades ago!! Likewise with U2! They never WERE any good except for two very early songs. After that, it was listening to Lawrence Welk's new death metal album. 2015??? Holy fuck, this IS old!! OKAY, YOU CAN DROP THE FAKE FILM HOLE LOOK ALREADY! IT DIDN'T WORK!! HOW can you HAVE part of the picture IN the sprocket holes where there IS NO FILM?? I didn't know Coldplay ever WAS cool! When was that, about 30 years ago? No, I DON'T remember Maroon 5. They were just as lame as Coldplay and Limp Biskit. Bin Jovi's still around?? I thought they stopped living on their hair after their second record! At least Kiss still gives us a fucking show! Okay, maybe their music died after they did the solo albums but, who else puts on a show like that and, even if they ARE in their 70's, why stop them, as long as they can still do it? Huns & Posers sucked from the very firs second!! Again, I had no idea they were still around! The Rolling stones were never all that great. They were just a flavour-of-the-day band and they couldn't even do THAT well! Now, that Watts is dead (several months ago! so, why are they even in this video?), I seriously doubt they're going to continue! $800?? I wouldn't even pay $8 just to see them!! THEY'D have to pay ME to walk across the street to see them. Lynard Skynard's been dead for decades!! Most of them died in a plane crash in the early `80's! Is Glenn Miller gonna be in this video, too? Nickelback is as bad as u2, Limp Biskit, Coldpplay and Maroon 5!! Aerosmith, until the mid `80's, I was never a fan and still am not but, again, they put on a show and, as long as they can still do it well, leave them alone! Mentalicrap should've quit in the `80's, too. Def Leppard: another one I was never fan of. Props for the drummer still doing it with just one arm but, as far as I knew, they were done in the mid to late `80's. REO Speedwagon have been a huge steaming pile of shit from before their first record!! As much as I love King Crimson, that's a band that should've hung it up about 20 years ago! First, Bruford quit, then Levin, then FRIPP! I think Gunn also took off. That leaves Belew (guitar/vocals) and Mastellotto (drums). After their leader and semi-creator, Fripp, quit, Adrian & Pat decided to carry on as a King Crimson cover band with 3 drummers and 3 bass players!! Now, instead of playing huge stadiums, they play little bars!! One of their most famous songs, "Indiscipline" isn't even a song anymore! It's just the opening notes played for about 15:00 while the three drummers have a battle! And then the "song" is over!! All that build-up and no pay-off!! It's like fucking for 40:00 and then nobody cums!

I heard Pete Townsend saying an interview that Daltrey apparently wants to never stop until he drops. Townsend said that is not the case with him. We should not be surprised if we see Rodger Daltrey as a solo artist in a year or two. If not who songs then something else. I guess Rodger wants to get his money's worth out of those surgeries.

His answer was like what do you want me to do just go off to pasture joining Elvis in Las Vegas? Meaning that back then to just play and play with no new album resting on your laurels and just collecting the money what's supposed to be beneath you. But now we have bands that don't mind at all just going back to the ATM machine again and again.

Def Leppard has always been my favorite band of all time, just my preference, you don’t have to like it or hate it, but all of at least the legendary bands that you’ve mentioned such as them, Metallica, and others that I have great respect for on your list should be able to determine when they think it’s time to say goodbye because they are the ones who have given us all this great music over the years of our lifetime. Who am I as a fan of any of these bands that are still selling out stadium tours or arena be the one to tell them it’s time to move on. A lot of todays music is an ever revolving door with different styles and sounds that come and go just as all the eras that have passed before them, all I’m saying is that I hope that there will be some new and exciting music that comes along and does for this generation what all of our heroes have done for us in the generations before us 😊

Aside from the money, he must have fun doing it, Bruce (the only other guy from the early days, not quite original member) had other successes musical endeavors as well. Not sure how accurate online net worth estimates are, but if they’re 1/8 as wealthy as reported lol, They have enough money to retire in peace, they just don’t want to it seems.
