Roo H BUT IN A SITUATION, ARE YOU WILLING TO TAKE THAT CHANCE ???? Don't talk to the police !!!!
@lurk79675 жыл бұрын
@@rooh5825 I would not describe it as "violent psychopaths" Police have to take Psychological tests to join the force and that does a good job of weeding out the people who just want to be a badass cop kicking in doors and smashing faces like Hawaii Five-0. I would go as far as to say most cops are good people that help people every day and have dealt with situations that we could not even fathom. However a lot of traffic officers even the ones that help people are used as pawns in our stupid and unfair revenue generation system. Lots of people say this is not their fault they are forced to do this(quotas etc) and while that very well may be true they also don't actively try to change their actions and things like speeding tickets never happen to people with police in their family so they obviously have the power not to enforce these laws they do because they make a shitload of money on them and nobody questions them because they guilt trip about them, Driving is inherently dangerous and we need some rules on the road but speeding tickets are more about money than safety. That's why calling an officer that gives you a bullshit 35km over ticket a revenue officer cuts deeper than swearing at him it also does not give him a reason to saying you're disrupting the peace it's simply a statement one that he will hopefully think about when he takes off his badge when he gets home. You never know what kinda cop your gonna get when you get pulled over you could get the type of guy that will gladly give you a stunt driving charge so he can post to Facebook about how he takes down stunt drivers every day (Sgt Kerry Schmidt) Or you could get someone that lets you off when you were doing 200km because you were nice and you remind of them when they were younger or w/e. A lot of the way we view police officers comes through media I personally don't know any cops and I'm sure a lot of people don't either and you only see the stories of the cop charging someone for stunt driving on an empty road in the news, Just because you don't hear about the stories of them letting people go does not mean it does not happen. All you can do is be nice and hope the officer has empathy, I don't think many cops like giving speeding tickets they do it to meet quotas(Interaction minimums) let alone stunt driving tickets who would feel good making a teenager not be able to get insurance for 10 years because they did a pull on a clear road, yet some give the tickets. A good officer can control a situation and teach a lesson if needed without giving a ticket, at the end of the day having a man to man talk and realizing you both have mutual respect for each other is a lot more effective at protecting the people and controlling potentially dangerous behavior than saying "Give me money because you did something I don't like." Try to keep your speeding to rural areas and watch out for hills not only is it stupid to speed around them because you can't see they are also prime spots for officers to back into some guys field entrance right before the apex of the hill and nail ya. At the end of the day, a cop is a person first and a position of authority second what they personally think is always gonna affect what the outcome of their decision is and you can't control that just like some people have more empathy than others. Some police don't like to ruin someones day with a ticket, while others will gladly give 20km over tickets while simultaneously breaking road laws themselves or my favorite changing lights from red to green to meet your buddies for pizza at midnight without losing a wink of sleep over it, Police Officers are needed and were a great idea that changed the way our society worked sadly humans ruin it by being greedy one of mankind's worse traits IMO. Speeding tickets don't have to exist. The only reason why we have such insane driving and impairment laws in Canada is that its such a feminized society some states like New Mexico you can get caught at stunt driving level speeds(50km over gets you a huge ticket car impounded for a week and ruins your chances at getting reasonable insurance for life pretty much) and get a $200 ticket for reference a 35 over ticket is 350 in Ontario and people under 25 cant have 0.01 bac and drive... it's insane and most of the people that defend it are women who stay at the speed limit 24/7 and don't go 10km over MEn and Women think about cars differently and depending on who makes the laws where you live they will vary! Why not give someone who was caught stunt driving a couple weeks of community service feeding the homeless or something that will benefit the community, not a ticket that's revenue will go straight into the Police chief's Wife's Pretty Dress Fund.

Varies widely by state/county/local gov't, what the actual speed limit is vs what you were going, and the cop's discretion. I believe I read a recent law passed (don't recall where it was for), stating that 45+mph over the speed limit, they can take you directly to jail and suspend your license immediately. Beyond that, some courts are lenient (payment plan, etc, if you can't afford the fine), others will throw you in jail (they've punched holes through the debtors prison dilemma). All assuming they aren't outright corrupt (ie: planting evidence, inventing crimes).
@legendarydeaglemaster68315 жыл бұрын
In Canada any over 50kmh/31mph will result in your car being impounded and your license suspended for about a week. After that your insurance goes up by a crazy amount, everyone I know who has gotten the charge their insurance went to over $1000 a month, pretty much impossible to pay unless you have a lot of money or live with your parents and have nothing else to pay for.

Many-many years ago, I got 3 reckless op tickets in Ohio over a 4-month span, the DA took those misdemeanor charges, bundled them together and then charged me with a repeat offender felony. I spent the summer of my 18th year in various courtrooms fighting this. I had a lawyer quit because I would not take a plea, hung one jury and finally was found guilty of a lesser (non-felony thank goodness) charge of speeding. I ended up paying courts cost (no small matter since it was for the grand jury, the arraignment hearing, and two jury trials) and to this day I do not speed, a lesson was learned :)

I called the court ahead of my date and only expected a fine and loss of license for a while (no problem - I lived in MD). Went up to court in a hick town (exit 6 or 7 - all farms) in a suit, with briefcase and fancy city boy car. Hangin' Harry gave me 5 days in county jail. I was 22. Suburban white boy. WTF. Spent some time in my nice Orange jumper with a roommate named "G". Was in about 26 hours in County before my folks did their magic with the phones. I did not ask to be sprung - I was fine serving my time. Learnt a lot while I was there. I have the tickets framed on my wall - the cop had to draw a new box for 55+ and checked his own box lol. I just got a speeding ticket, got it knocked down to only 20 over because I was a veteran. I was doing 97 in a 65. Got lucky. When the state trooper first came up, he got me for no front plate, tint and said I was losing my license. He was pissed. We ended up fist bumping after I said thanks for knocking it down.

I live in Vegas and I was taking my mom to Laughlin on Mother’s Day. I turned off the US-95 onto the Laughlin Highway 163. Seeing how I’ve driven to Laughlin before I thought nothing of going almost 85 in a 65. Especially when other people around me were doing it. Anyway the NHP recently changed their car color from navy to silver and I didn’t know yet. I start coming up to a silver Ford Explorer with antennas and the second I crest the hill he turns his lights on. I knew it was for me because I was the only one going faster than the cars around me. He pulled me over and I handed him my permit (I had just turned 16 ten days before) and insurance and he comes back with “Speeding in a Rural Area” and that the ticket would be 78 dollars compared to a 300 something dollar ticket. Sadly it came out of my birthday money. And he said I wouldn’t get any points on my license because I didn’t even have one. Because of COVID I was very lucky I didn’t have to go to court which was in Laughlin and was mandatory because I was a minor. I was also very lucky because when the time came to get my license the ticket was not in their system. If it were I couldn’t get my license. So I got off almost Scott free with only a 78 dollar ticket for 82 in a 65. Nothin else. I never speed down the NV-163 to Laughlin anymore. I know that’s where they camp. *Edit:*forgot to mention this is my first ticket. Hopefully my last. This was only May 14, 2020. I’m still 16

I honestly can't remember the last time I followed the speed limit without knowing I'm about to hit a fixed camera I've had 1 ticket in 12 years, at 67mph, from a cop hiding behind the sign indicating the speed limit changed from 60 to 50. In the UK we get 10%+3 leeway - 50 yards earlier and I would've gotten away with up to 69 unless I acted like a dick.
@carrollshelby86904 жыл бұрын
We don't have speed cameras in Wyoming. They're not bullet proof.
@ALittleMessi4 жыл бұрын
The UK's system is smarter imo. It curves better so slower zones where you would assume pedestrian danger etc. aren't as fast as they can be in the US, and motorway speeds are faster. To me it makes no sense to have an unwritten 5mph at 20 and 75, those are two drastic changes. However the UK also has so many speed cameras I feel like I'm being watched every time I drive

Got a ticket in California over Donner Pass doing 105 in a 65. Because I don’t live in CA, the judge couldn’t suspend my license so she banned me from driving in California for 60 days, plus a $500 ticket. Crazy thing is I was driving my Lotus, and I was actually in the slow lane doing about 75, there was a semi truck in the lane to the left of me when i noticed the sign that said lane ending merge left. I could of slowed down but Im in a Lotus, so one downshift and zoom, i’m ahead of the semi merging into the left lane when my V1 sounds off, beeeeeep.....shit! So I pull over instantly to the side of the road. Only problem is the Lotus stops so quick Im still uphill of the cop...so I slowly roll down the shoulder till Im even with the cop out my left window (he was on the fast side of the road) . He hasn’t even turned his lights on. So I roll my window down and stick my hand out the window and give a thumbs up and then a thumbs down to see if I’m okay to go. Nothing from the cop, still doesn’t even have his lights on. So I’m thinking well maybe I’ll roll farther down the road so he can pull across the hwy and get behind me. So I roll down the shoulder bout 100 yards. Still no lights from the cop, still not pulling out. So I sit there for a minute waiting, nothing. So I tell my wife, maybe he’s not going to pull me over. So I turn my turn signal on to pull back out onto the freeway, still no lights from the cop. So I merge onto the freeway and get about hundred yards down the road when jackass finally turns his lights on and comes after me.....wtf! When he gets the car he ask the age old cop question, “do you know how fast you were going?” I told him my lane was ending and so I just sped up to get past the truck , merged and let off the gas. He says, “I clocked you at 105 mph.” “I said I wasn’t aware I was going that fast but in the Lotus the difference from 75 to 105 when going down hill is a quick stomp of the gas.” He didnt care and I didnt have a 11-99 Foundation tag so he booked me for the whole amount. Ridiculous.... people act like all cars just blow up at 100mph, its really not that big of a deal when you’re driving cars designed for almost 200mph speeds, 100 feels like 70 in a normal car.

A few years ago, i got a ticket in San Antonio for 115mph in a 60. I was going about 130mph but police radars max out at 115mph so the officer wrote the ticket for 115 and told my parents i was doing closer to 130 or 140. I got an attorney and got it off my record without much a hassle. This happened when i was 17... I was insanely fortunate that i did not go to jail that night and was able to get it off my record. Unfortunately my insurance rates are quite high though.
