Instant respect for Forteresse’s Metal Noir Quebecois. That’s one of the best black metal albums from the 21st century. Also, mad respect for Chelsea Wolfe’s newest album in the background.

Forteresse is my favorite BM band and one of my favorite bands period. I think their sound is more fitting for a proper studio which is why Themes is my favorite. The studio really fleshes out the sound and makes the songs so much more massive and triumphant imo. Every song on TPLR is so memorable despite being rhythmically and technically simple; that's how you know the spirit is present, aside from the feeling you get when listening haha

Absolutely love that Falkenbach debut, got the CD waaaaaay back in the day. That Ferriterium "Calvaire" sounds excellent, and now of course I want it and it's way out of print hah. I was lucky enough to get that Forteresse LP on the 2021 repress along with Ifernach's first demo when the TdG distro got their copies.

HIM and Chelsea Wolfe hahaha man I only laugh cause I have gone the same route. At one point I was exclusively listening to mid era Ulver and Tori Amos and stuff like that 90% of the time. Metal always comes in phases. That Fields album is definitely on the top of my list for albums to get.
