That was dynamite Chris. I have seen quite a few cleaning videos in the VC during the last ten years. But I still watch everyone that I have the time to watch. I really dig that Ultrasonic Cleaner. Your setup was very efficient. The records looked super. I could not believe how many particles were on the bottom near the drain. Crazy. I probably would not have noticed that on the record. I use Clear Bags too. I used to use the flaps but I switched them over to the non-flaps. The albums such as my bootleg collection I will keep in the flaps. But any album that I will be playing goes in a non-flap. Everyone has different reasons and tastes when it comes to sleeve protectors. Great job Chris. A plus~ Rob/Boston

Hello Chris; Good informative video on cleaning vinyl records. Like the ultrasonic machine, the record stacking in-between discs & the lockdown mechanism. You developed a very workable process in which to clean the LP's. On the sports front we are also waiting for the baseball season to begin. Hopefully soon. Be well, stay healthy. Tina & Pat!~

I can only hope the players vote in favor of playing this season but I don't think it will happen. Thanks for watching!

I have done several different methods until I finally settled on this one. I don't think there's a right or wrong method.

Hey, thanks for all this! It has been helpful! I also will move beyond the SpinClean followed by VinylVac, which didn't work well for me, and do this instead. I am a little torn on how I will do rinse (spin clean vs. spray) and what drying I will do. Was considering some sort of fan like you see some of the units come with. or just enough lint free towels so I can lay the record down for half a minute each side to reduce excess moisture, then rack them to air dry. I may come up with my own fluid with PhotoFlow also, but have not decided. may use my old SpinClean sometimes as a first step on really bad records before using the US. I also appreciate your musical taste! Fun to see that Sonics album behind you, being raised a PNW guy, and I just picked up that Gil Scott-Heron/Brian Jackson album, (for too much money) myself. It needs a clean for sure, after I tried it once uncleaned. Are you a member over at Steve Hoffman forums? I heard you mention them. I am participating in a thread over there about US owners and their methods to learn also.

I might switch it up and do the spin clean rinse eventually but for now this works for me. I think the vinyl stack offers a fan if I'm not mistaken but I'm unsure of the cost. I've heard that PhotoFLow works great as well. I'm a member on the SH Forums but don't contribute that much. I will try to find that thread about US cleaners. Take care!

I use a power washer. It can punch a hole in the vinyl if done wrong but overall it blows the crap off. I need to do a video on that. Currently I do spin clean, not as deluxe as you. I am also lazy so I like your method.

I think spin clean is probably fine for the most part. I am always on the hunt for something better and I landed on this for the time being.

Very informative video, do you mind me asking what type of micro-fiber cloth you are using before you put the records in the rack? I have used Spin Clean cloth's before, but they do tend to leave just a small amount of lint on the records.

Hey Chris, thanks for posting this, super cool to see how you clean your records! I might steal your idea with the colored dots on the sleeves. Right now I'm just noting the discogs entry. I've been considering an ultrasonic cleaner to maximize efficiency, to run that and the vac at the same time, and then thought about using the vac to dry off the ultrasonically cleaned records. I'm also weird and I want to see how big of a difference there is between vac cleaned records and ultrasonic. I love the look of those clear sleeves, but I have zero patience for the flap, it drives me bonkers! The machine does sound super loud in the video. Do you find it to be as loud or louder than a shop vac? Thanks!
@firstpressinggoodness8329
@firstpressinggoodness8329 4 жыл бұрын
Feel free to still the dots...LOL! I buy a bunch of them on Amazon for pretty cheap. I know people who do the vacuum after the ultrasonic and I probably should do that but again...the time factor. I know a lot of people don't like the flap but they work for me. Take care and thanks for the motivation.

MOST commercial ultrasonic cleaners have the sonic transducers on the bottom which is the wrong place to clean records. The sonic energy MUST be directed into the grooves NOT across the grooves for proper cleaning. Also, if you truly want a clean record, you must remove the record while it is wet, rinse it off with clean water, then wipe it dry with a microfiber cloth.
@CraigLafferty
@CraigLafferty 3 жыл бұрын
I thought it was microscopic bubbles that hit the grooves, not sonic energy.

Hi, your videos are so quiet they're inaudible.I'm only forwarding this as it's a shame you're doing these when no one can hear them. Has anyone else forwarded this information to you? Have a good Sunday. Best, T.

T...thanks for the information. I switched to a new mic a couple months ago. Maybe I should switch back to just using the iPhone mic. Does it sound better at the end of the video when I show the dirt in the bottom of the cleaner? I am using my iPhone mic during that clip.
