Bob. I usually cut my hype sticker out of the cellophane if I can’t save the shrink. I will then put it in the album plastic sleeve. They are an interesting part of our collection. Enjoyed the video.

Cool video idea. I do like me a snazzy hype sticker. I snip mine out of the shrink and put them inside my outer sleeves. Not perfect, but it works.

Ive always heard that leaving the shrink wrap could warp the records over time. Because of that, i always take records out of the shrink. BUT if the shrink has a hype sticker, regardless of what it is, i cut it out and put it in the jacket or the plastic sleeve. I think the stickers are important and need to be kept.

I don’t keep my records in the jacket, but yes I guess that could be a thing. I’ve cut them out before as well and often with gatefolds.. cheers!

I totally agree with you, hype stickers give a piece of valuable information and I just love them. Trying to keep them on if possible.

Started to collect them since l didn't want to keep the shrink wrap on the jacket as l was storing them in upright position like yours behind you. In the early days of collecting before using plastic sleeves, when you would slide them in the shelf the shrink wrap would tear off as it dried out over time. My stickies are all placed in scrap books. Good idea 4 a video!

Hey Bob, so I love a good hype sticker, but HATE shrink, so that stuff comes straight off, but I always keep the sticker, and if it's really good I'll still display it up front when the record is placed in a nice and shiny blake sleeve :-) Cheers Dean

Hello Bob, I'm like you, I keep the shrink and all hype stickers like the Tone Poets they have a bunch of info on their hype sticker unless it gets damaged while I'm taking it off. Great video!

HATE THEM, they have to come off as the shrink has to come off. My nightmare? I am a cover designer, I make the perfect cover, I go in a record store and someone has put a hype sticker over my design.

I love a hype sticker too. Got both those Prince ones, also have his first album “for you” with original hype and mastered differently and was re-mastered shortly after by Bernie G in 1979. It sounds pretty different with the different mastering engineer. Agree with Craft and Blue Note classics, they are definitely worth keeping

Some West coast pressings of Waiting for the Sun have that hype sticker on the actual jacket. My favourite hype sticker is on Bookends.

There's definitely hype for those stickers now. It's funny how most people back in the 60's and 70's ripped the shrink off and threw it away! The real collectors knew better.

I cut out the hype sticker from the shrink, dab a little rubber cement on it , and attach it to inside of plastic outter sleeve.

Seems to be more of a North American thing, especially for vintage albums. When they are on the shrink they are OK, especially as you mention when they contain useful info about mastering etc - then you can remove them and save them if you want. Otherwise, I'm really not keen on them when they have been stuck to the sleeve.
