Chris, Nurock's version of ''Giant Steps'' is fantastic, he offers an ''exploded view'' of the piece, he takes it apart and rearranges it, to come up with something ''brand new''. Kirk's piano playing reminds me of Duke Ellington's amazing keyboard stylings with it's hints of Ragtime, Stride and Chopin. Thank you for introducing me to Nurock and the Adamo label. Nurock's resume is very impressive, he wrote a piece, ''Listening Bach'', for Orchestra, Narrator, Chorus, 4 dogs and 8 guinea pigs!!!

Kirk is a wellspring of creativity at the piano and composition. He is an exceptional teacher as well, a standout influence in my life and by far the most refreshing patient luminary in the academia I was exposed to during my time in NYC.

Clifford, I was unaware of Kirk before I found this album. I look forward to exploring some of your music, too. Thanks, Chris

Steve, when your comment popped up in my notifications it was broken into two lines. The first line was 'Very interesting Chris, the stuff you pull out of your...', which had me wondering about what I pull out of where! Luckily, it was pull out of my "collection". LOL

I think it took until about three minutes into the video before I could identify Giant Steps....or hints of it. Then at about 4:45 he really plays the main theme...seems like a great record, solo piano interpretations jazz standards. Thanks Chris!

I thought that it might be a good idea to play a little of the original to make sure what to listen for. Thanks for giving it a try.

I saw this record, and it met all of the basic requirements - solo piano and interesting content. Thanks Brian.
