Hi Rob, some cool pick ups there, but slightly off track: i have a friend who lives in rural Kentucky, and just after i visited him in 2011 his neighbour;s property went up for sale. it was purchased by none other than Capt James T Kirk!!!. Shatner actually went to all the neighbours and introduced himself as 'hi im Bill, im your new neighbour'. he then proceeded to invite the neighbours around for a barbeque (including my mate and his wife). just goes to show that some actors remain pretty level headed after all their fame - Lloyd

The weather down my way has been quite rainy for the past couple of months and the carboot sites have been quite saturated etc... There might be one on this Easter weekend,I'll have to double check. There are quite a few dealers though in shops and antique type places within an easy drive from me,so I might just check them out ??? I'm no car expert but I'm damn sure that was a Morris Minor on that sleeve. I've never seen The Commitments film all the way through. Like a lot of films I settle down to watch,I fall asleep . I've even done it at the cinema !!! Great and interesting finds Rob 👍👍👍

I wish we had an equivalent to car boot sales over here. There's a few channels I watch that always pick up great stuff at a reasonable price. Hi Rob. I must make an effort this year to get to a few car boot sales ... I've got Cheap Trick's 'Dream Police'. I saw them live a few years ago. I stood next to Roy Wood during the gig, and he got up on stage for the encore. Cheap Trick are big fans of Roy ... John Otway was a good find. I'm not a car expert, but it would make more sense for it to be a Morris Minor ... Nice Pet Shop Boys and Prefab Sprout 12-inchers.

Some great finds Rob. That 1984 was in the original release of the film, but the director had it forced on him by the producer, Richard Branson. In the subsequent release of the director’s cut he replaced it with other music. Caused a bit of a stir at the time. Some really varied records. Great Alex Harvey. Can’t help you on the Captain Beefheart. Billy Paul is a great soul singer. Billy Joel is wearing his Jam tie. Cheers.

it's a Morris Minor I think. It's definitely not a beetle, some bits of the picture make me doubt it's a minor but could be the angle or maybe altered by airbrushing to create a more appealing image. Anyway enough of the bits of the photo are Morris Minor. I couldn't place John Otway but knew I'd heard the name, I thought that sounds like the name of the dude who did "headbutts" lol. What do you know my memory still kind of works, that song used to be the last tune of the night at a local punk night I used to attend. It was always "Nelly the Elephant" by the Toy Dolls second to last song and headbutts to finish.

Looks like a few cool musicians were in that band (Steve Lindsey from Deaf School as you state, plus Chris Skornia who ended up in the Fabulous Poodles and The Truth!). Love that Billy Joel album (my fave is The Stranger). That's a great Ultravox single... and Prefab Sprout.... so great! And of course, The Members were great, too. Totally overlooked. And "Constant Craving" is an all-time fave song of mine. I can spin that 5 times in a row and still not be tired of it!

Hi from New Zealand. I have seen Cheap Trick in concert. I think it was in 1979 here in NZ. They played very loud and shook the venue. I like their cover of Fats Domino's hit Ain't that a Shame. That got me excited when they performed that. I had that album Broken English by Marianne Faithfull in 1979. Good record and a classic. I like her The Ballad of Lucy Jordon . I have the soundtrack of the Commitments movie too, but on cd. Looks like a Morris Minor Convertible on that record cover to me. My mother knew a lady who drove one back in the early 1970s. I liked that song You may be Right back in 1980 by Billy Joel. It's on that album Glasshouses. Good records . From Carl.

I hate to be a stickler but *please* don't pinch the edge of the LP like that when you pull it out, you are leaving finger oil etc and messing up the outer grooves. ANYWAY I also love The Planets, some music buddies of mine know the guitarist Barry Lines and keep promising to get my albums signed!
