I got the original vinyl and also this repress that you show here. I think it does sound better, just because the songs obviously got more "breathing space". Played this to death when it came out, mostly listening to it in taped form on a walkman, and I still love it. I kinda feel the same about not really being able to choose a favorite Melvins Record, but if I had to choose, I d probably pick this one too. Cheers from Munich Germany!

I think I'm too pedestrian in my music tastes to appreciate Stag the way you do. I knew of the Melvins but never really got into them until last year for whatever reason. I enjoy their sludgier albums. This one is too much noise and experiment to hold my interest. I enjoy Houdini, Stoner Witch, and A Senile Animal. Are there any other albums I should check out?

If you like the sludge listen to everything before houdini, its the albums that defined sludge as a whole.
