Thank the Lord you opened the letter in front of us and didn’t leave us hanging! 😁 I feel as if I’ve had a trip around the world watching this….great video and Merry Christmas to you Martin! Mike

Cheers Mike same to you. Unless it really was ultra personal I would read it out. We are no longer in a letter writing culture though I guess making VC videos is the replacement.

Good morning Martin. Nice to join you this morning. It's crazy how we all think of one thing and one thing only when we here the word Wako. I love finding little tidbits in my used record grabs. The Family Crusades sound like they were very ambitious people. Sending two pounds is actually very cheap shipping in today's market. It may have been considered expensive 52 years ago. The Wonderful World Of Man has never been shown in the VC. At least I have not seen it yet. But this is one of the reasons why I dig your channel so much Martin. You surely keep us on our toes with the music that you share. I appreciate it all. Have a superb week. Horrible that today is Monday. But we march forward. Talk soon~ Rob/Boston

I hope things get better for you and your family Rob. I watched already your latest video just now. Man your hair looked tidy and sharp too 🙂 The isle of Man is where more senior members go to live or on vacations. It probably rains there most the year so maybe not for you unless you want to be melancholy. Plenty of other seaside places I'd recommend. Cheers, Martin.

Nice original Nigerian King Sunny Ade. Is that signed on the back by him? I've got a couple of his. Nice stuff. There's a rather odd Robert Altman film I like called O.C. & Stiggs, where the eponymous teenagers conspire to book King Sunny Ade & His African Beats to play at their high school summer ball. Successfully. Louise would probably like that Isle of Mann record, as a child she spent many of her summer holidays there with her family.

Hi Martin, a fifty-year old letter opened live on the VC, you've excelled yourself. I am hoping to do some sort of entry to your thread but not sure when as we have to empty our old garage at the weekend and spend all day driving back and forth to the tip. Maybe Sunday will present an opportunity though. Our neighbour's son lives on the Isle of Man - always meant to visit the place but haven't got round to it yet.

That'd be great to have you onboard. I'll probably extend cut off to end of the year. I.O.M. seems very traditional place for the older generation and two wheeled petrolheads.

Hi Martin I have Catch Bull at Four but it's ages since i've played it ( or any Cat for that matter) The King Sunny Ade sounds interesting. African music can be really good. It's always intriguing when you find personal ephemera and stuff in records..it's happened to me several times over the years. Interesting facts about the Isle of Man..somewhere i've never visited. Hope you're keeping well mate. 😉 🙏

Hi Martin - Glad you opened the letter in the video. It was as you suspected with no juicy gossip, shame. I do intend to respond to your thread just little time for videos currently...cheers Dale

No worries, I was partly relieved it was dull though some juicy gossip would've been nice. Maybe now I'll check did they lead a virtuous rest of life or rebel into rock 'n' roll folklore and the works of the devil.

Hi Martin, That Waco connected record and letter is interesting. Have to admit though I was hoping for some Koresh style apocalyptic message! Jazz finds look reasonable. I’m quite partial to a bit of Dizzy Gillespie. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Liverpool but have never been to the Isle of Man. Take care, John.

The sketch on the Fast Show Mark Williams and Caroline Quentin 'me and my wife come every year to the isle of man!' I've been to the southern equivalent retirement home the isle of wight interestingly the last place in UK to be Christian. Should I play it backwards see if there's a secret Koresh message in the deadwax? Nope. These are squares nothing to see here 😁

A rather unique unboxing, or should I say unlettering. I am guessing the postage went unpaid! 😅 I remember King Sunny Ade being played somewhat on John Peels back in the day. I can’t even think about Xmas, will give it a couple of weeks at least. Jesus is coming, look busy!
@Thevinylscavenger11 ай бұрын
Antichrist before Jesus returns. I don't think he's so bothered if you are busy or not. Ah it would be Peels festive top 50 now I am waiting to see if I get any records this year though somewhat doubt it. If that's the case I'll be hunting in January sales.

Hi Martin. Re your thread/competition, check out Chris From Rekkid Talk's entry. It is a tour de force ... Some almost mainstream pickups this time round (including Clark Terry on Mainstream label). Thank goodness for the Isle Of Man and Waco records. It's a pity the sleeve is knackered on the King Sunny Ade album. Cheers, Carl

Hi Carl. Rekkid Chris's entry was excellent I thought, at the moment to best of my knowledge he's the winner. Vinyl tag will be starting any day now........ The Waco one is not that great tbh whereas the IOM I can do something with as I've cinefilm to accompany it. Thanks for always commenting it's much appreciated, you've been making videos quite a while yourself now too 😊

@@Thevinylscavenger Time flies; I started doing videos in early 2021, inspired by watching Rob Walker and Vinyl Dale videos on car boot/charity shop finds. I was also in awe of Norman Maslov, and liked another American called Oddbox Topper ... I'm quite looking forward to doing the 2024 Vinyl Tag, and also seeing what new channels emerge this time round (especially in the UK) ... I always enjoy your videos. Cheers Martin.

Not enough flugelhorn out there. Nice King Sunny Ade. I wonder if any Jewish culutre rubbed off on Isle of Man residents...

I'll try to keep december dry (of records). So, no fleamarket visits.

Moi, So are you Martin planning to do rhapsody of Isle of Man, interesting. I didnt know that they have cat of their own and without tale, but my wife did know actually. I wonder when they stop that nasty deadly motorcycle race. Was it "Ruuvit Löysällä" comedy serie with phrases like "we like vegetables but dont eat them" about people in Man. I liked that serie, I think watched every episode in 90s, nowadays I watch more series like Father Brown, lol. Hyvää viikonloppua.

Too bad it's a bit more than 2 pounds to send rekkids across the ocean these days.
