Hey guys, back with another Fallout 4 video and today I wanted to go over what I think are the Top 12 Worst Perks in Fallout 4. This will be a perks guide that illustrates some of the worst perks in the game. This video is up to date and is current up to the nuka world dlc.

Did my first playthrough in power armour, the most annoying thing is having to get out of it to literally do anything, especially charisma checks really hated that. Now on my second playthrough I don't want to use power armour for anything, idc if it's good. I still like power armour though, but it's not for every playthrough.

Ok being serious Aqua boy/ aqua girl is one of the most useful perk in survival mode since fusion cores weigh 4 pounds you can’t hold that many fusion cores at the start The cannibal perk is every useful for people playing the game without a hud or getting strongs affinity up Nerd rage is more of a clutch perk with if combined with Chem resistant and chemist can make you overpowered with the right gun Now stop making bad claims and go help another settlement

Nate Mays if you join the rail road and do the quests you can get the ballistics weave mod, which gives you a stupid amount of armor on cloths. When you level up you gain health, and the health you have is determined by endurance.

No-one just says "Let me grab 10 intelligence just because". If you have 10 intelligence you're basing your character around it, which is why that perk is there. A character based around intelligence will likely be squishy for a good chunck of the game, especially on harder difficulties, so a megaboost when they get low is the least they could recieve.

Well the point was fair: you can play the entire game without the hacking perk. Every terminal you need to progress will provide you with either a easy level hack you can do at base level or the area will provide a password for you to find if you need it to progress. The locksmith perk is more useful in a sense that you will very often come across locks that needs picking. There's a lot more loot hidden behind locks than there is behind terminals.

Well in my opinion, it's worth wasting a perk point in aqua boy/girl just not to hear the radiation meter going crazy when going through a pond on walking in semi flooded area. There is a lot of things to find under water if you really want to explore and im sure that having to loose a lot of hp going in and getting annoyed by the sound may irritate you. Maybe not the most useful perk in term of gameplay but one of the best in term of sanity keeping

Yes but we all have to keep in mind this in an open world RPG that encourage exploration. But since the game feel like an empty shell (just like vanilla skyrim) most people end up starting new character just for the fun of running around and going full on gun blazing on everything I did that myself... after the first couple of quest after accepting the fact i gave no shit about my son and only wanted kellog's jacket.

We can all agree that the second point of Aqua is pretty pointless, but the first is a perfect convenience perk. No health chipping from entering water and total immunity to drowning, which allows you to leisurely explore the underwater terrain and find any bodies that fell in the water or submerged containers. In the defense of Hacker, many safes are also unlocked by terminals, and this can actually be used for easy XP if you keep resealing an electronic safe and lockpicking it. There are also some places with security doors that can't be lockpicked and need to be opened via terminal. I do agree that Toughness and Refractor aren't nearly powerful enough to justify the investment, but they have some advantages you might not have thought of. Firstly, Fallout 4 actually has a weird defense system. To put it simply, your armor value has breakpoints where incoming damage may be nearly ignored, somewhat negated, or able to pass through nearly unhindered. Having a slightly higher "threshold" means that you can possibly cripple certain weapons and attacks without needing your armor to pick up the slack. Secondly, this is a permanently available, completely weightless form of defense. The Hazmat suit has 1000 RAD RES, but no defense otherwise, which can be countered slightly with these perks. PS- Not everyone wants to go around hiding in power armour, we can, but it's so strong that it sucks a lot of the challenge out of playing.

with the automatron dlc you can put a hacking mod on your robot which makes even master terminals pretty easy to unlock, it usually gets it first try but if it doesnt i just quicksave and make the robot hack the terminal again

also in defense of hacker, I find alot of power armor suits behind terminals with advanced or above skill levels required. One time it was a nearly full suit of X0-1 MK.II that was behind an expert terminal that I couldn't unlock because I didnt have hacker

vinyl these lists are bad because you only think of the majority of the perks usages with power armor and that is all you use(in your gameplay) moving target on survival difficulty with a melee character is crucial to survivability as a melee character which leads to my next point of iron fist, iron fist can easily be one of the most broken perks in the game when you pair it with the luck critical banger and better criticals and blitz along with rooted and moving target again you only called it bad because you can't use power armor. maybe some people don't want to use power armor fuck also on survival with no power armor toughness is a necessity on certain builds to negate early game squichyness. guess you just play the game on normal difficulty though so.

Nerd rage is actually pretty good. It's more of a last stand-type skill when you are close to death. It's fitted in the intelligence tree as well, so even the egghead characters can get some boost without having to invest in endurance etc. Saying you can just use chems is kinda odd to me, as they have their own drawbacks like taking up inventory, having to buy or make them, they are addictive without perks in the endurance tree and a lot of companions dislike them. That's not even counting the fact that you can stack nerd rage with said chems.

After watching several of your videos, I have concluded that all of your titles should include "in my heavily biased opinion". All of your points make sense as long as you first make the correct assumptions about the way someone plays the game. Several times you stated things along the lines of "such and such sucks because of power armor" or "just use power armor". I played through this game multiple times with different builds, and very rarely did any of my characters rely on power armor. In the first fight with a Deathclaw, sure. A couple of them used it to cross The Glowing Sea. That's about it. Another time you said instead of this perk you should take these two perks so you can just take as many drugs as you want. Never personally liked to rely on anything that you can run out of (except Stim Packs and Radaway of course).

Without a doubt. Currently Baron Von Duke is roaming the wastes with his two-shot combat shotgun, in roughly 110 dmg resist/120 energy resist armor. Sadly he weights about 90, but I have rifleman fully - no dmg resist perks, and strong back fully so it works well.

You forgot something pretty good with the cannibal perk in survival. Yes it makes you go straight from well-fed to hungry with no in-between, but it also takes twice as long to go hungry in the first place. It normally takes around 6 in-game hours to go hungry but it takes around 12 in-game hours with dark craving active.

josh horton even on survival mode power armor isn’t necessary. The only times I used it was in the first fight with the deathclaw in Concord, and in the Glowing Sea. It’s just for weaklings who want to take the the challenge out of the game. And I definitely agree with you about Idiot Savant. Even on low luck builds, it’s ridiculously good. If you get lucky and get the boost after finishing a quest, you pretty much have a free level up.

Arthur Morgan I don’t understand how people use power armor 24/7 because you have to repair it and power it. Repairing it isn’t hard (e.g t-45 requires like 30 steel and 2 circuitry to repair the entire set) but how do you get enough fusion cores. Each fusion core lasts 20 minutes(40 with perks) so that means you basically have to find a fusion core during each quest. Is your luck an exponential number?

in my 3-day lvl 43 playthrough, where 95% of the time, I didn't use my power armor, and I just left it at the red rocket. Heck, I went with the minutemen, took over, and blew it up, didn't use armor. The only time when I did is in the glowing sea when I had to find the mutant scientist.

I found rad resistance useful in Far Harbour, along with Ghoulified. I found it useful cause I’m terrible with knowing when to take Rad-X and would prefer ballistic and energy resistance over radiation and didn’t want to be slowed by power armor

Friend of the night is best for a sneak/sniper non-power armor build. It allows you to sneak around better at night in dark areas where you can see better with the night vision and if you're using an intelligent, perceptive sniper, you could top off perception and intelligence to 14+ at night with things like eyeglasses, maxing the SPECIAL stat to 10, then getting the bobblehead.

I disagree with you on Nerd Rage. It is, in the words of Fudgemuppet, the ultimate safety net for a squishy smart character. Depending on your build, Nerd Rage can and will save your life. Their Scientist build makes great use of it throughout the game in general. When shit hits the fan and you're all out of chems or have a companion who doesn't like you using them, it will absolutely save your life. Even when it isn't as useful (late game) you always are aware that if some big dangerous enemy catches you off guard, you will likely live or kill it gloriously. If you don't ever use chems or plan on it, it is also useful. A high intelligence character may as well get the perk, as nothing BUT good can come of it.

Moving Target comes in handy in survival since there's not fast travel. I've always maxed Strong back and am always over my carry weight, and so, always using AP for running. Level 3 moving target stacks well with level 5 strong back.

I believe that 'Iron Fist' has a secret benefit that the game never mentions, but I have noticed as an unarmed user. As you progress on the perk points you seem to unlock different kill animations such as neck breaks, power slams and stamps. They are some of the coolest animations in the game. They may not be uber powerful but if you have played for ages & don't want to do another 'power' build this is an enjoyable RPG way to go.

When I first picked up Skyrim back in 2011 i needed clairvoyance so badly because it was my first time in a Bethesda game. Hacking isn't mindless, there are bracketed segments that you can select that will remove duds or reset your tries. Once you know how the hacking mini game works its incredibly easy to successfully hack every time without fail. Unlike locks which is a mindless mini game that is pure luck of the draw.

For number 12, blitz perk allows you to become a spidermonke and close any gap so you don't need resistances. While nerd rage is bad, it's not that bad because it's a panic button not a tool. For moving target, melee builds benefit a ton because you can close the gap easier

Your base is limited to 10, but grabbing the bobblehead after can raise it to 11, and the vans perk acts like a buff, so it can take it to 13 from there. You keep getting benefits from numbers above 10, like higher accuracy in vats and increased radar range outside survival.

Aqua boy/ Aqua girl is a great perk In survival. Whenever you get the chance make hangmans alley your home base. You can use the river to get to a ton of places, and it's in the middle of the map so you'll be around everything. It's right next to diamond city so it's easy to restock. Being In sanctuary to use as a main base is not the best idea since its in the top left corner of the map.

A single point on Aquaboy early on in survival difficulty makes a massive difference for travel safety and speed, it's one of the best perks at the start of the game where you can be oneshot by a random strong enemy or grenade when you're just trying to reach The Castle for example.

Moving target is considerable, especially with toughness stacked on top. My reasoning is because it is obviously a perk made for Run & Gun builds as well as tactical retreation. For example, if you have a shotgun you will want to get up close to use it. So by running up to the target (while taking reduced damage) you can successfully and safely land a crippling blow by giving them a face full of buckshot.

So fucking sick and tired of people saying Aquaboy/girl is a bad perk when it is not. It is highly useful. One of the added advantages is you can basically sell 99% of the Rad Aways you come across. They are worth a lot and you only need a few for the odd time you do soak up a lot of rads. This lowers carry weight by a bit. You also won't need to lug around junk like hazmat suits and change in and out of them(besides, they don't 100% protect from rads anyways). You don't need to waste a few moments changing in and out of the suit and back into your normal armor. Which decreases your carry weight again, allowing you to pick up more guns and junk to sell. The LESS stuff you leave the house with, the more stuff you can pick up on your questing. As someone who wants to pick up as much as I can, not only to get the supplies to build my settlements, but also to sell to vendors for caps, I want as little crap on me as possible when I leave my settlement. Usually only my normal armor set and a weapon or 2 and some stimpacks(cause they are weightless anyways). Not carrying radaways and rad suits around may only increase cap/scrap production slightly, but over the course of 3+ real world days of in game time it adds up to basically another perk in "Strong Back". It is basically what rank 5 of Strong Back should have been at the end of the day, long term. That's not even mentioning how nice it is to escape into water and swim away from enemies you simply don't want to fight while they look for a way to safely cross the water, you are already on the other side of it out of harms way. Rank 2 is perfect for stealth and survival builds as well. And when you get to Far Harbor, having both ranks of Aquaboy/girl is basically a MUST. On top of all that it is saves time. I already spend a lot of hours playing this game. Wasting even a few moments changing in and out of armor when it isn't to change to an upgraded armor piece is not something I want to do. I can be out there questing, getting supplies and finishing the game instead. It may only save a few moments at the end of the day, but the saying "time is money" exists for a freaking reason. To me, there is no reason not to get it early in your play through. The sooner you get it the better as it just adds up after while. The only build I can see not caring about it is stupid Power Armor builds. I hate power armor so freaking much in Fallout 4 and rather save my fusion cores for when I get a gattling gun late in the game. I do collect them cause, hello, cool stuff to display and save and sell excess of, but I don't use them. Even if you don't build the settlements, it is still useful, cause all the stuff you collect can be sold for caps to buy ammo, stimpacks, cool legendaries, whatever. So even if you are someone who doesn't care about the settlement building mini game, it is still highly useful. For me, I'd rather just spend the extra carryweight in lugging a few junk items back to my settlement, then lugging around a hazmat suit and radaways permanately in my inventory/ And as someone who doesn't use chems(once again, id rather just sell them for even MORE caps), and finding food to cook to increase carryweight is actually quite hard in my experience, every little bit helps. And none of this is even mentioning exploration. Exploration and being encouraged to explore the world of Fallout 4 is an important and cool and fun part of the game. This perk makes it easier.

Hacking is mindless as hell! Especially at higher levels. I've found taking more levels of Hacler reduces the choices you have in the terminal. Add that with the Science bobblehead to give a total of 5 chances, all you have to do is pick the first four, go through and click all the (), , {}, and [] to either delete enough to make it obvious or replenish all your tries and you're through. If anything, hacking should be made more difficult

Hacking is easy, just click one word, see how many letters are same, look for other words that overlay with amount it told you. If u click 3 words and still got like 1 word likeness, exit and do it again to refresh tries, u start again but its much faster.

Aquaboy level 1 is good, being able to just travel by rivers is safe but I never go level 2

Aquaboy/Girl is great for exploration, and revealing certain locations early game that would be unsafe to walk to. For example, the museum of witchcraft, the airport, and some of the swamp areas. I had revealed these locations at level 2, but i couldn't survive going into them until a fair bit later... Each of these places you discover using aquaboy nets experience, combine that with night person and go for a midnight swim, and you'll gain levels very fast.

The whole Perk Game changes if you enter Survival Mode i find Aquaboy very useful in survival because radaway has a really bad side effect.

It is probably one of the most op perks in the game! He doesn't know what he's saying. Your example is exactly why it's so powerful. I cleared Boston airport and the Prydwyn of people full of power armor in one trigger of need rage level 3!

3:57 Hey, more Intelligence is always a good thing! Especially when you're building settlements or making chems, when you're likely to rack up literally hundreds of little XP gains in only a few minutes! More XP means more levels! More levels means more perks!

Exactly. Essentially the first thing I do is max out my intelligence and I climb levels like CRAZY. For example going straight from vault to sanctuary to red rocket to the museum of freedom, I was level 6 by the time I brought the settlers back to sanctuary when I made a character with maxed out intelligence at the start.

Any time I am going into a fight in survival mode (very heavy int character. She has like 4 endurance) I always pop both psycho and Med-X. If things are REALLY bad I’ll pop a jet too. Don’t want to get addicted tho. The worst part is that I have so many other perks I need to invest in that I can’t really put perks into chem resistance. When I make intelligent characters I always imagine them having the best gear on the field, so I have to put the next 10 or so levels in things like science, scrapper, and Armorer that it’s really a game of mental gymnastics to figure out the best way to apply my perk points. (Doesn’t help that these are the least flashy perks in the game making it feel like I did nothing with the level up.)

Aqua boy/girl perks are actually pretty useful on survival mode first by remove rad damage from water second by giving you the ability to breath under water the reason these two abilities are so useful in survival mode is the fact that their is a river just past the corvega assembly plant that leads all the way over to a ton of important locations like diamond city, good neighbor, and the old north church so whenever I am playing a character that doesn't use power armor I pick up this perk because it gives me access to what is effectively an in game high way system which is super useful for getting around in survival mode
