Excellent interview. A rare case in which the interviewer actually knows what he is talking about, and Mr. Echols articulated his experiences very well. Have heard some of the studio banter during the recording of this classic album, plus outtakes, very interesting.

Had the pleasure of meeting Johnny recently what a humble guy the man is. He had time to sign autographs ,have pictures taken and most of all to talk to the fans. Love a truly great band and Baby Lemonade with Johnny gave us all there in Bristol a night to remember.

This band changed my life, no pun intended. Forever Changes is an album that took a few listens to really hit me, but when it did it's like it unlocked something magical. It's one of those rare albums that just becomes a part of you and I couldn't imagine life without it. Digging into the backstory of the band and the rest of the discography was one of the most fun discoveries I've ever had musically. This is a band that within a few months of discovering I knew had become one of my all time favorites, thanks to Arthur Lee, Bryan MacLean, Johnny Echols, and the rest of the various members for your contribution to culture and changing my life forever.

That was a great interview, Eric. Forever Changes is without a doubt in my top 10 favourite albums of all time. It sounds like nothing else and no matter how many times I've heard it, the melodies are both beautiful and unpredictable - there's always a sense of "where is this going?" Great interview, amazed at Johnny's memory. I always liked Love, I knew Arthur had a fine voice, but I was hardly ready for how great Forever Changes was. It was the kind of record you brought home and just played it 20 times in a row. Only other record like that for me was Beggar's Banquet. Bummer in the Summer was my song, the one I sang to myself while driving around.

I have heard of this album for years, but amazingly had never heard anything from it over the years and they are not discussed enough so I kinda just missed the boat on this one. Finally heard a couple of months ago and the hype is justified. Absolutely brilliant almost like they made this album with absolutely no regard to the outside world which is why it is timeless.

The fact that the music industry would promote the new album with a billboard, A BILLBOARD, is too cool, make it known and put everyone on to the music.

What a great privilege to be able to interview Johnny Echols! You've really won my respect with this one. Love has been one of those bands I had wanted to get into, but their stuff was super super hard to find. I had my hands on Love Revisited for a while but that's it. "Forever Changes was something I had read about for nearly 20-years before I finally heard it circa 1991. I immediately knew what all the fuss was all about! It would've been cool if Johnny Echols had a similar solo career running parallel to that of Arthur Lee's the whole time. Is it just me when I think that when people where digging Lenny Kravitz, it was really Johnny Echols that they would've really wanted?

Love and Forever Changes disappeared from memory until interest in the early the early 80's by UK post punk groups that were blending punk and Psychedelic. Interest built up until the later 80s where a complication was released for the U.S/ Canada and I bought it. The albums were very hard to find before that...or very expensive.

why love arent even in rock n roll hall of fame is beyond me when lesser bands swan in!.......love influenced the doors, lez zeppelin, syd barrett and countless others!....... was lucky to see love revisited with johnny echols and their amazing last touring band called baby lemonade!......the guys played the 3 classic albums! ....... blew the roof off!..... johnny had all the cool of arthur lee in spades! .... every inch a rock legend!..... so uber youthful and achingly cool and likeable!........ simply amazing! ......best gig ever in glasgow, scotland

Geek, wow, you really nailed it. Lot's of nice tidbits that weren't in the Love documentary. This is a real coup! I never really thought of the fact that being a mixed race group would effect their ability to tour. It's a stain that continues to haunt our country to this day. Quite frankly, to borrow a phrase from the late Stuart Scott, Johhny Echols is as cool as the other side of the pillow.
