Love your videos and wanna thank you for all the work you put into them. I'm running the A329 (based on watching your videos) front camera only on my 2020 Sierra Denali because if you connect the rear camera there's no way to route the rear cam cable without interfering with the TPMS system. I wish Viofo would address this with a better cable, but I do love the video quality.

First, Happy New Year. Second, I believe I speak for other in say "Thank You" for your content. It has been extremely helpful in making a decision before a purchase. We've been running A229 Pro since 11/2023. Had memory card trouble, now using sandisk max endurance - no issues so far. Have you tried/tested RTC300 telephoto? We've seen video on other channels but wanted to get your view. Seems we would loose rear camera to run it. Cheers...

I'm very new to the radar world, would you explain how useful your R7 is? And btw I do have the Mini2 two over 2 months now, it never failed, only issue is voice command is tricky sometimes, and I would have glad it came with a rear cam.

What a great review as always 👍 💯 I just hope viofo works on impact notification 🔔 that will continue to beep. And upon returning to the car, one can know instantly even without walking around the car that an impact occurred while parked. Some impact are not detectable easily, and probably after a week or even more while trying to wash the car, then one will just realised. It will also take away constant check of locked videos. I think it will be a nice feature to have

Pls kindly also advice them if they could make both the rear and front connecting cable to be L shaped at both ends for a cleaner installation Also, in my personal opinion I feel like the structural design of the viofo A129 pro rear camera could be brought back to their flagship. I use a Rav4, and that design are always so dope that it looks soo OEM. LASTLY, I can't wait to see the concept they want to bring in their mirror dashcam shown at SEMA. I am a very big fan of mirror dashcam. Thanks

Hi, I installed the A229 Pro 3CH updated to the latest firmware, but in parking mode, I don’t have the "Auto Event Detection" option, only the various Timelapse and Low Bitrate Recording options. Do you know why? Thanks

So I’m running the a 229 pro with a power cell 8. My understanding is since I am running a battery pack when I turn off power to the battery. It will automatically switch to parking recording. Currently, I have it in the low bit rate mode for continuous recording. My question is in order to have the impact G sensor along with the motion detection I was under the assumption that when you have the impact sensor on, it will save the video clip. From how you explained it in the video it seems like it will only record using the G sensor or the motion detection while in the auto detection mode instead of the low bit rate mode.

There are two different G sensor options. The first G sensor option protects driving clips when impacts are detected. If you switch to auto event detection, that changes the parking mode to buffered motion and impact detection. You can then adjust the G sensor for parking mode separately.

I have the A139 3Ch and absolutely hate it for it's inconsistency to reliability work and have had to send main camera in for replacement, it's a constant battle of trying to figure out setting that allow it to work constantly still figuring it out....

Both would work though right side may be better to give your fingers more room to access the memory card or to slide the dashcam right when removing from the quick release mount. Just give yourself enough space to do that.

I just got my A229 Plus. When connected to wifi in settings on my phone, I got a message "Internet may not be available" and it asked if I wanted to connect only this time or you can set your phone to always connect to it even if internet isn't available. Underneath that, it gave me an option to go in my wifi phone settings that looked like this. Settings > Intelligent Wifi > Switch to mobile data > Network exceptions. So the dash cam can work without WiFi?

Question - I want to get another Viofo for my Silverado HD truck - the back window has factory tint - what are your thoughts on the rear camera? Should I purchase the 229 which has a compatible waterproof exterior mounted rear camera?

Factory tint is totally fine. I guess it depends on if you want to also record the bed or if you are worried about the rear view being obscured and so you’d prefer a clearer view behind.

Thank you for the video, I've just bought an A329 and I'll install it next weekend. I have a question about the wifi station configuration: how can I access the camera from my computer if it is connected to the home network? There is something to install on Windows, a web page? The wifi will be active even if the car is turned off and the camera is in parking mode or completely turned off (at home I'll turn the camera off because I don't need parking mode in my box)?

So I haven’t played with the feature, but I think it’s only for local access. Can you VPN into your home network perhaps?

I noticed when you turned on wifi and connected to phone, it didn't start recording on its own, as its happening to me. I would like to know if there is a way to set this A229 Plus Not to start recording when I start engine and when I connect it to my phone. It also starts recording once I get out the files menu. I want to be able to start the recording my self, and I can't seem to find instructions on that. Might you know how? Thx.

Did you know there is VIOFO RTC300 Telephoto Camera for A229 Plus/A229 Pro, I watched most of your informative videos, but I couldn't find any review about that RTC300, and since you already use A229 Pro in your own car, this Telephoto Camera would be a nice/usefull addition ? I don't have it since it's a little bit too expensive for me ($459 + $129 CA + 13% Tax) , but I would gladly watch a review 🙂

Yep, I’ve tested it multiple times, but I haven’t done a video yet. I’ve since received two more telephotos so the video will be a comparison with several different styles of telephotos, once I finally get to it. :)

Thank you for the tutorial. I have an issue with setting the time. I’m from Chicago, IL, and I set the time zone to GMT+6, but whenever I enter the time and date settings, it won’t let me save the correct time. As a result, I’m currently using the camera with the wrong timestamp. Have you tried setting your time and saving it? It won’t let me do that-none of the buttons allow me to save. The back button just returns me to the menu.

Oh weird. It’s always worked for me on every dashcam. If it doesn’t work in the app, you could try directly in the dashcam, or vice versa.

I love my A229 Duo Pro. Viofo when y'all come out with A249 (I guess) can y'all give us the option of LCD or not. Only time I look at that screen is when making sure I'm in Wi-Fi mode.

So in the USA. Should the hertz setting be set to match the 60. Or choose the 50? Thanks. Also. If you are in 60fps and turn on hdr. Will it automatically switch to the highest hdr setting. And also when you turn hdr back off will hit revert back to the 60fps. Of just to 30fps but with no hdr. FYI. I just ordered the a329 Thanks

Yep 60 in the US. If you enable HDR or AutoHDR, it will switch from 60 to 30 fps when HDR is active. When HDR is inactive, it records at 60 fps.

Question I just bought my a229 pro because of your recommendations, but the dashcam only saves files when I “lock save it” and when I look through my video files all I see is the locked videos instead of the “continuous normal recordings” that the a229 continuously makes.

Yeah if you have privacy mode enabled, turn that off. The video clips should all otherwise save in the folder like normal.

Quick question: I'm pretty much unfamiliar with the whole dashcam thing. Is there a way for this dashcam to live-stream video to my phone's screen? I want to get something like this to improve my night vision while driving on narrow, dark, forested roads, and I'd like to have an old iPhone or android positioned in front of me on the dash with the screen on, so I could see any animals in real-time as I am driving. If the camera is placed up near the rear view mirror, I'd have to take my eyes off the road to look at it. Do these devices allow this?

Sounds like you need a thermal cam, not a dashcam.

@@VortexRadar I think thermal cameras have a couple of issues that would NOT make them ideal for dashcams. Since they need to be mounted outside, during weather events, road film obscuring the lens would be a major unavoidable issue, as well as the cold snow and rain would probably wash out any image generated. So I assume according to your answer, these cams don't have the ability to live-stream via Bluetooth? Does any dash cam allow this?

since the earlier models viofo has had wifi. disappointed that while it has that technology for some time now, it still cannot do remote live view if you have a wifi hotspot. why on earth have they still not implement that yet? i don’t mean cloud storage, but live view. something like eufy or wyze. the 229 models are awesome because they changed to usb c for better overall compatibility with cable options and adapters. disappointed they reverted back to proprietary connectors for the 329, forcing users to use their very specific cables which are stuck at specific lengths you have to coil up, especially for the rear camera. with usb c you can make a tidier cable management and connection. i use a 180 degree usb c adapter to tuck the cable behind the rear camera as it goes into the liner. it’s less visible and cleaner that having the cable running along the rear camera’s side. that’s an eye sore and assymetric look, making the camera more noticeable.

Ah you mean LifeHackster’s experience? That was disappointing, but it doesn’t seem to be widespread. I’ve seen several other people do a similar test where it worked fine, plus others involved in accidents where it also recorded. That said, recording failures can and do happen which is always disappointing.
