I'm glad that you allow the bass notes to ring on after the first beat of each bar. In my opinion it sounds a lot better like this, as well as being easier to play!
@christophermuller9489 Жыл бұрын
my opinion: Yes, its easier to play, indeed. But first said: not what Bach composed (but that may be not the strongest argument if one talks about interpretation etc). I learned this piece with 13-14 yrs or so. I remember the struggle with muting the bass-strings (and on top: strings one didn't play but they "ringed" by resonance) in the beginning. My brilliant guitar teacher said: of course it sounds not worse to let them ring, one may even say: it sounds better (like you). But give it a try, kids (

I'm currently learning this piece using instruction from Isaac Bustos on Tonebase and when I first watched him play with dampening base notes I was intimidated. I decided to trust the learning process and within a couple of weeks I was using this technique without difficulty. So gald I did! @@christophermuller9489

Many years ago there was a classical AM radio station in Atlanta (WGKA 1190) that used a guitar arrangement of this prelude as its sign-off theme.

Woah. What an incredible rendition, that has taken me by surprise. This interpretation takes it from 'yet another rapid prelude' to something of yearning and interest. The controlled pace lets the harmonies sing without feeling exposed. Inspired.

0:41 what a stretch … I’ve tried but I can’t reach the C (3rd string) with the second finger, keeping the first finger on the F (6th string). It’s an outstanding performance!

@andreavocino Жыл бұрын
@@lebbio2795 if you pay attention, you will see that the third finger needs to be on the third string, the fourth finger needs to be on the second string, and th fifth finger needs to be on the first string (all on the fifth fret) for the arpeggio, hence you can only hope that watering your fingers will help them grow :-) or you play it with a guitar that has a shorter diapason, which I believe to be the case here.
@lebbio2795 Жыл бұрын
@@andreavocinono, what I was saying is that you can use the 5th finger to cover the 1,2 and third strings simultaneously. So the only finger you’ll use are the first and the fifth that covers the first 3 strings. That’s the way I play it. Hope it’s more clear now

Today's bass note update, fellows : - The piece is written in two bar phrases, and the first bass note in each bar is the most obvious place to make that known, and felt. The " fire and forget " method just doesn't do it for me anymore .........................

Actually looks a bit dangerous ... Anyway, I've just heard this piece in a new light, and I don't mean on this vid ! I didn't learn this piece with damped bass notes, because I couldn't even play the piece, how was I going to damp the bass notes ? Now some giant on telly is playing it, and not damping the bass notes, what's the score ? I can tell you now exactly why it's better with damped bass notes ( you lucky people ! ) . This twelve note arpeggio includes three very prominent bass notes. Played with the accents as in this vid, particularly with the emphasis on the bass which the sustained bottom note gives, we end up hearing a fairly simple bass line with " some chords " . The technical reason for damping the bass note is to anchor the hand, so you can hit the fifth note of the pattern and make it nearly as powerful as the first note of the pattern, and the musical reason is to allow the groove to come through - just damping that note clarifies what's happening. P.S. I find it very easy to count her accents as grouped 5 3 4, which should not be easy at all ! ! !

This piece should be twice as fast as this. The only recording I ever heard of it at a sensible ( novice clavichord player's ) tempo, was one of Segovia's many recordings of it. In some ways I think it's fair to say that this is the numero uno for guitarists, not RDA. If I had the dosh I'd buy that guitar for the head alone, that's gorgeous ! P.S. Pardon my French - I of course meant " RDL'A " !

Bwv 666 Bach composition / hymn to the effects of Christ's body and blood. Bach said of all his work it is for the glory of God. Of course composers in those days usually had to do work within the Church as one of the main sponsors of music and art as well. 666 is just superstition.
@achimborn58502 жыл бұрын
Why are critical, uncomfortable but quite meaningful comments deleted? As before. Why are the prescribed breaks not observed? Muting the bass strings on every 2nd quarter!) It spoils the character of the piece! It is then striking (visually and acoustically) at the point with the overextension from the F-bass to the (quasi barrée at the 5th fret. There you take the finger away. Also the melodic line is not correct, because you do not emphasize the ostinato 2 eighth bass notes correctly.
