VIOLENT Turbo Camaro 6 SPEED!!

Whaaaaaaaat? We are still recovering from the hearing damage caused by this Camaro’s deafening 2-step! Besides the fact that it’s entertaining as HELL to watch, its also the worlds FASTEST GM 6-speed! We bumped into him this year at Street Car Takeover - Kentucky, and were able to see some testing passes on the new turbo set up. On LOW boost, the car ran an 8.59…his record pass is an 8.3! Looks like we’re about to see some new record passes in the near future!

New to this stuff, huh? You basically know because of how AMAZINGLY FAST the car is - that it'd be featured in this vid. No one would care f it were running 8s in the 1/8th mile, because it'd be a fairly SLOW car (e.t.) with an astronomical trap speed (MPH). It would make zero sense, friend. Just spend an hour or so watching drag vids and you'll see how obvious the difference is. If it helps, NHRA Pro-Stock is 1/4 mile. Top Fuel is 1000' or 1/4 mile (1320'), depending on how old the competition (generally 1000' now). 'Street Outlaws' on TV and most of these No-Prep / King of the Street events are 1/8th mile.

Clint Nahina GREAT question you ask! They reduced Top Fuel Dragster & Funny Car to 1000' for a few reasons: 1. The RPMs and stress on parts at the big end of the track is why more engine parts fail. So "running 'em all the way out the back door" (1320') results in more broken parts. Lesser funded / sponsored NHRA Top Fuel teams couldn't keep up with the big dollar teams because they're constantly destroying VERY EXPENSIVE engines. 2. When you're going 330+ mph in 1000' , you'd be surprised how much more speed those cars build in the last 320'. As such, a few guys were getting hurt (1 or 2 even killed I believe) in crashes so it's kinda better that they start getting those cars slowed down - even 320' sooner. 3. Stressing & Damaging engine parts at the big end of the track results in a fair amount of oil-downs which slows the show for spectators. And if there is *LIVE coverage of an event, oil-downs are a disaster for TV programming. Pro Stock & Bike still runs 1320' but as for the Top Fuel classes, they changed to 1000' in 2008, after Scott Kalitta was killed in a Funny Car crash.

Coming from a guy that grew up in a drag racing family (dad raced Nostalgia Front Engine Dragsters : - ) and attended his first Top Fuel National Event at probably age 6 (I'm 38 now) , I can say without reservation that I prefer Pro-Outlaw / "Street" events. For me, seeing a bodied car, owned by a real person (not a Corporate Sponsor), go 200+ in the 1/8th mile is beginning to be more interesting than seeing a Top Fuel car go 300+ in the 1/4 mile.
