That's true, one thing great about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was how symbolic it was, both films and book, it demonstrates various issues that kids develop and how if their parents don't do something about it, then their kid will end up in a bad place. Kind of makes you wonder what this meant for Henry Salt though, I mean no other parent shared a punishment with their kid, so why was it just him?

Richeetah Yeah, after the movie I think all the kids parents would have sued him. In the original I don't think they could do anything, because they signed that contract. That didn't happen here.. If I was Miss Beauregarde, and my daughter became a blueberry I'd be suing, suing all day long. But if she was a blueberry (or if she exploded) I don't know how she'd sue.

Willy Wonka was able to create a chewable poison that changed your genetic and physical composition to match that of a blueberry. Her insides swelled so big that her spine probably got stretched as well, which would have ruptured her intestines or stabbed her lungs. Do you realize that she technically turned into a giant blueberry and Wonka couldn't find a way to reverse it? She should be dead, if not from shock then from having all of her organs morph into massive seeds. I know it's fake, but to actually think about it, none of those kids should've survived and this movie is dark AF.

I think Violet and Mike are the two that ended up with the worse punishments compared to Veruca and Augustus. When you look at Violet she turns out in the end blue and flexible, Mike is stretched tall and thin, while Veruca just needs a bath to be normal same with Augustus heck he probably lick himself clean since he loves chocolate so much and ends up coming out covered in it. I think the songs for Violet and Veruca are my favorite in the end though and also in the end they all got what they deserve but it doesn't seem to bother them much except maybe Veruca a little.

This version of Violet's blueberry inflation looks a whole lot better than the 1971 version. Still, to some degree, the scene could've done better if the inflation would've stopped after expanding her as wide as she was tall. I honestly think that if Violet Beareguarde was more of a model it would have enhanced the demise a little better. Her mother would be mortified and Violet would be in shock over what's happening to her ideal body weight, more so after she'd get juiced. Imagine carrying around extra weight in juice, rather than excess fat.

Does anyone else think that Violet's, ahem, near demise, was the scariest of all the kids? Mike seemed OK with having shrunk, while Veruca wouldn't suffer any lasting damage and while Augustus was made thin, but Violet was blue for the rest of her life. It's not really the lasting damage though...I think that it's the most fantastical demise, and scares me more because of that. The other kids have things happen that seem more...real, but turning into a blueberry from a stick of gum...scary.

Violet's demise now reminds me of that Blorb illness from Mario and Luigi: Bowser's inside story; of how the Mushroom people turned into fat and plump people only they're not blue. Same goes with Luigi turning fat too from the same game to fight off enemies.

When Wonka was talking about the hair taffy, Violet looked over at Veruca implying she thought it would be funny if Veruca grew a beard and basically turned ugly. So that's why I think Veruca made the face she did when Violet began swelling.
