Honestly every time I hear the OST I start tearing up and I feel a huge surge of emotion well up inside me. I really appreciate all breakdowns of Violet Evergarden like this one because I struggle so much to put into words the love I have for this work. I literally cannot find the words to convey just how much this anime means to me. Therefore I have so much respect for people that can do so. Beautiful video, thank you

Fortunately, Violet Evergarden is certainly not dismissed in Japan. It’s the top-rated series on the biggest Japanese anime database. The series definitely feels like peak anime, a flawlessly executed special vision. You’ve definitely earned a sub. If you continue to make good work(no pressure ofc), I’d be interesting in helping you out on the channel whether that’s proofreading, editing, making my own contributions. Only if you want obviously, I just think this was dope and I’d like adding some traction if you start the snowball, but if the channel personal to you only or a stranger bringing this up is weird I get it,

14:24 Your Welcome :). Honestly, this brought me to tears like the show did. Though I will say you could have gotten a bit more to the point as you didn't need the excessive spaces in between your talking points. Nevertheless, Fantastic Analysis. If I'm to add anything else, the Burns as you pointed out represent shame and sin. Hodgins Told Violet about this in the first episode and the burn metaphor makes more sense the further the story progresses. The more Violet learns to empathise, the more she relates with her own loss and the more she also realises the pain and losses caused by her own hands. This realisation of sin pangs her with Spiritual and Emotional pain, as you said, it was a trial by fire. I should also point out there was another scene where Hodgins talks to Cattleya about telling her of Burns by indicating and he himself, Cattleya and everyone else is burning as well. This indicates that all of us have committed a shameful act at some point. So what's the solution to put out the fire? Find Redemption. The first key to Redemption is Humility. Notice that when you've seen the worst in yourself, You in turn see the Best in others around you. Violet becoming a Ghostwriter (Doll) helped her learn to empathise with others and learn that Redemption leads to a deeper understanding of love. When Violet returns to work after wrestling with her own grief, Hodgins says that you can't erase the past but the Good things you did recently won't go away either. Violet inhabits this rebirth by showing deep emotional pain for other clients (in Episode 10-11) and refusing to kill Terrorists still burning from the war in the last two episodes. In the last episode, her character arc is concluded with the symbolic imagery of a water droplet with the reflection of a fire being put out before landing on a Violet to let it grow. According to this show, empathy and redemption is what makes us Grow. Merry Christmas by the way.

Thanks for your insightful analysis and tips. I agree with you, this idea of sin and regret is central to this show, something I will for sure put more emphasis on a future work.

Violet Evergarden is and forever will be the best portrayal of a storytelling experience. This masterpiece of an anime gave me not only the strenght but also the passion to pursue my dream of being a writer, to tell stories that will make people feel something, to make them feel seen and understood. Violet and her grieve accompanied me in my experience of losing someone dear, not in death but in separation, and as Violet began to undestand the true value of her life and her love so did I. Thank you for giving me the chance to live once again the beautiful emotions that this story portraits.

7:46 This hits even harder now that I just watched the movies: Comforting Isabella, the thumbs up, pinky swear and the very last shot. I missed a lot of symbolisms, but watching it again is a tall ask as the feelings hit very hard. Also I'm not very good at symbolisms so this video helped to bring the anime all together. Thank you, even 3 years later.

Came from reddit. Great video! I really like your use of the OST. You did a good job on adjusting the music volume while talking and letting it fade back in once you were done. Apart from that the cuts at 04:11 were clean af! The only "negative" thing I found was the duration of the Blackscreen at 02:52 but I guess you just wanted that the track ends. The Blackscreen just felt to long in comparison to the other transitions.

You got one thing wrong: this anime most certainly didn't go unnoticed nor unrewarded. The TV season is currently sitting at ~112.000 Blu-ray discs sold (~28.000 average per disc, 4 discs in total) which is incredible, even by pre-streaming era standards. The sequel movie (not the side-story one) also rivaled A Silent Voice at the domestic box office in Japan and in awards despite the pandemic restrictions imposed on theaters; the series as a whole has also garnered high praises from worldwide audiences and acclaim from big creators such as Hideo Kojima, who outright stated that it is a masterpiece on his official twitter. Rest assured, director Taichi Ishidate and Kyoto Animation were rewarded for their efforts and bold vision; encouraged to continue down this path.

Hi thanks for your for your comment, i think what I was getting at was the reaction to this show just as it started to air (seperate to the blue ray and DVD sales witch came much later). I am well aware of its success recently specially with the final movies shedding more light on the intial series. I am very happy that this is the case. This show by all means is my absolute favourite and that commemt i made was more venting frustration for how big anime youtubers (notably Gigguk) and the gernal anime crowd at the time calling it lackluster with its story despite its commitment to groundbreaking animation. I hope you understnad, sorry if I didnt convey my feelings accurately in the video.

Hi, thanks for watching and commenting! I am well, and yes i will try to make more videos, but I am a full time uni student and its really hard to find the time to sit down and finish one of these projects, often they get lost at some point in the wirting phase, I have so many half written scripts that I need to go back on. But thanks for the comment, now that uni has finished for the year I hope to get one video out, so look out for it!

Kinda late.But can you explain me please what does symbolism means in writing?
@Stone_Talus23 күн бұрын
@@AhmadMunif694 best way to think of symbolism is what the animators and story tellers are trying to convey feelings and ideas through indirect methods. In this case scene design, sound and music. Kind of like what's written in between the lines. Often symbolism is used to aid the main narrative and driver greater impact.
