Once in middle school, a teacher actually pulled me aside on a field trip- we were getting off the bus to go back to school- in front of all the students, and pointed and it saying, "that's disgusting." Having people tell me that they thought it was a hickey before, I explained to her that it was a rash/ violin mark. Then she told me with a gasp, "is it contagious?!" So I just wanted to thank you for self assuring me that I'm not the only person alone in a situation like that😂😂😂

Ok, so I’m not a string player, but as a percussionist who very frequently plays 4 mallets using Steven’s grip, I experience a similar problem with strange instrument marks, because when you play Steven’s grip, you build up massive callouses on your 3rd finger and center of your palm (we call the palm one mallet stigmata). The problem is, the bump on the third finger is extremely obvious, so one time when I was writing something next to a non percussionist friend; when he saw it, he thought it was a tumor, and that I should go see a doctor. Took me forever to explain that it was fine and normal. Since then I’ve referred to the callouses as Steven’s Tumors.

Mizuki Kazumi Same, no hickeys for me! Also, Amelia, I think you may be gripping the cello with your legs rather than just letting it rest between them. With my orchestra teacher being a cellist (and my private instructor), I've been able to get direct help with my posture, but most of us cello players aren't so lucky. There might be some KZbin videos that could help you though!

Can you have tips for practicing? How to practice what’s most effective for you? There’s 2 solos for violin in this one piece we’re playing and another solo in another piece and I sound not as good when playing both pieces. I want to sound as best as possible and get those solos. But I can’t do vibrato or create a good sound..if you do make the practice video can you also give some tips on vibrato I’m struggling with it and I’ve been trying for weeks Hopefully you can help!

Just made a video on practising tips and tricks :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/in_NXn1unJaUsK8 For your case, if you want to make a better sound, you want to make sure you're using lots of bow as well as clean bow strokes. I'll make a separate video for vibrato someday, but for now, if it's too hard to vibrate, I think it's better to not vibrate and work on perfect intonation instead. Hope that helps :)

Not been long enough for me to get a violin hickey, do remember people genuinely thinking my ex and I had been strangling each other tho, nope, she bruises easily and she would practically bite down on my neck at certain times, didn't help there were often multiple and they could be pretty big and purple!
