I think that is the best version of that partita I have ever heard including Heifetz , Perlman, and Milstein. It’s so musical without sacrificing technique. I had to stop what i was doing and just sit back and enjoy

You must also listen to the Netherlands Bach Society recording! It flows so well: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pp-uZ4Vrms9pfsk

I think Ehnes's version is PERFECT. But my favourite is Hilary Hahn's. Her Bach just touches me deep in my heart and moves me into tears, EVERYTIME.

Yes! And I didn't even know his name until I heard this by chance! Thank you so much for putting it up on KZbin. One of the best discoveries in my life.

I think this man is the best Bach player of our time.
My teacher Patricia McCarty admires him so much. She always says musicality and technique are inseparable.

Obsessed with this interpretation. Perfection.

This is some of the greatest distributive control of the bow ever. Simply the greatest. So much here is the result of craft and consideration as well as years of experience. Stunning.

Indeed.. the old saying, "The bow arm separates the men from the boys"

Was lucky to be at Meadowmount when he came to coach and play with students. Such a clean player. I like his Allemande a lot but love Hahn’s sarabande and Pearlman’s transition into the chaconne is SO DOPE

No one plays it better than James Ehnes. He is in an ivory tower above them all. Not a note out of place, not a twitch on his perfectly serene face. He makes it look so easy. I could watch and listen to him all day. My only critique is for his camera operator. Whoever it was should be fired. Why would anyone pan off to the left and cut him almost completely out of view? Continually? Some of us actually like to watch a violinist’s violin while he plays. I hope they have a really good excuse for cutting James right out the the picture while he plays his masterpiece!

@Islay Lamb Agreed! Especially as I'm trying to check the bowing and fingering (which differs from an interpretation to another) . It is so disappointing to have the cameraman focus on some useless areas. In such a soloist performance and the whole piece through, the LEFT hand FINGERS and the WHOLE BOW must be FRAMED. Otherwise, what is the point really?
@SunilAruldas Жыл бұрын
Well, considering the huge amount of empty space on the left quite often with the left hand fingers out of view, why aren't you making a fuss here 😅

James, you give my favourite interpretation of this amazing music on the modern set up. An inspiration indeed.

Horrible camera work!!! He is not centered, can’t see his left hand!!
@frogtofall3 ай бұрын
It was probably taken from something else and so the person who took it clipped it this way to keep it from, getting yanked.

Cu toată stima față de James Ehnes, asta nu e Bach! Sunt note de Bach în interpretare romantică. Vreți Bach? Liza Ferschtman, Sato - ,ei cântă Bach așa cum trebuie.
