Going on 4 years as a 'very' adult beginner and all these points are very encouraging, especially the "find songs you enjoy", my most important standard after the basic practice techniques.

@@Violinspiration hi, I've subscribed to you and watched your video recently. And I there's this thing that I've been worrying for some time. Is it possible for yourself to learn a violin without a teacher?
@xthesadcl0wn6 ай бұрын
@@francescagracie2561 it is possible if you dedicated enough and watch your posture. You probably won't get to a very high level and get to play in an orchestra. But if your goal is to just play the instrument as an hobbyist and play a lovely tune for you or friends/family, than you probably don't really need a teacher. Best to watch the 'Learn Violin in 7 Days' video on this channel. It's pretty good.

@@francescagracie2561 Thanks for subscribing and watching! 😊 Yes, it’s possible to learn violin without a teacher, especially with the right resources and consistent practice. It really depends on where you’d like to go in your violin journey like @xthesadcl0wn said. If you need further support, please feel free to reach out to us at support@violinspiration.com

I love practicing every day. 30 minutes, more if I have time. It gives me a feeling of accomplishment. If I practice with a drone, I find it so calming, its good for the soul!

Julia, this was a wonderful video. I had been taking violin lessons for 6 years before the pandemic. I feel that I need the start over. This video was just what I needed to get me started again. I love the sound of the violin and want to continue to play . I am in my mid 70s and enjoy the entire learning process. Thanks again for this very informative video.

Your spirit is appreciated. So much of what you said applies to approaching our lives. I am going about learning the violin as you described. I took a group introductory class at the community college and literally had not run the bow across the strings when I walked in. That was this past January. As an adult beginner I especially appreciate your approach. It has been fun though challenging which is good. As you said in the why is violin so hard video, violin players like a challenge. Thank you for your encouragement and great videos.

I've only been learning for about 15 months and I've already tried 3 chin rests and 2 shoulder rests but still my posture does not feel comfortable. I've come to the conclusion that I have to make the best of a bad job unless I find an affordable solution to this problem.

I've been playing for a few months and I can only describe my play as unorthodox lol I pluck strings as I play to get a specific feel, I deliberately stutter on strings etc I don't know what genre moody and surreal pop violin music would be but I think the closest feel I aspire for is Paganini. I am definitely a "Learn skills from the rules then immediately throw the rule book in the garbage and let the insanity of my art take over completely!" Type

Been playing for 3 years, but can't practice very long as my forearm and hand starts cramping up. I know, the more I do it , the easier it gets, but it's a painful process

I am very sorry for you, Practising should not cause pains. Don't hurt yourself. Just start with Bowing open Strings holding the Violin very lightly until you get a better Feeling. 🎻💕

It sounds like you're facing a tough challenge. Remember to listen to your body and take breaks when you need them. Don't be so hard on yourself and like Isabella said "Practising should not cause pains", I hope you feel better and enjoy playing the violin 💝
