How can I repay you brother mine? How can I expect you to forgive? Clinging to the past I shed our blood... And shattered your chance to live... Though I know the laws I pay no heed. How can I return your wasted breath? What I did not know has cost you dear... for there is no cure for death... beautiful mother soft and sweet... Once you were gone we were not complete... back through the years we reached for you... alas was not met to be... And how can i make amends? for all that I took from you? I lead you with hopeless dreams... my brother I was a fool... don't cry for the past brother mine... Neither you nor I are free from blame... nothing can erase the things we did... for the path we took was the same... beautiful mother soft and sweet... Once you were gone we were not complete... back through the years we reached for you... alas was not met to be... My dreams made me blind and mute... I long to return to that time... I followed without a word... My brother the fault is mine... So were do we go from here? And how to forget and forgive. Whats gone is forever lost... Now all we can do is live...

Full Metal Alchemist is one of the best anime ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No matter if your are an anime viewer or not, watch this anime. One of the saddest and emotional anime ever. Best cover ever.

I played this song during my piano recital. I was the 3rd to last person to play (from newest student to the best student), and it was a medley with this and another piece, for a 5ish minute song. I got a HUGE applause for it. Of course, I poured my soul into the piece, because I knew the song, and felt the emotion of the anime as I heard myself play it. Of course, I am also saying that you can really feel her emotion with the piece as well, that's the thing about musicians, you're always pouring your heart into your music.

“Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's first law of Equivalent Exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one, and only, truth. But the world isn't perfect, and the law is incomplete. Equivalent Exchange doesn't encompass everything that goes on here, but I still choose to believe in its principle, that all things do come at a price, that there's an ebb and a flow, a cycle, that the pain we went through did have a reward, and that anyone who's determined and perseveres will get something of value in return, even if it's not what they expected. I don't think of Equivalent Exchange as a law of the world anymore. I think of it as a promise, between my brother and me. A promise that, someday, we'll see each other again.” ― Hiromu Arakawa

They're completely different tbh. Brotherhood was much more 'lighthearted' than the older version. the older version didn't even have a happy end, which I think contributed a lot the whole 'brotherhood is better' complex a lot of people have. But in my honest opinion, I think the two start the same, but the set up is so different you can't really compare them anymore. Like action, comedy and adventure, watch Brotherhood, like action, thriller and tragedy, watch the old version.
@srlong11238 жыл бұрын
I think one of the main reasons people like brotherhood more is that it follows the story of the manga. The original anime was made before the manga was finished, so the creators decided to make it up as they went along.

Forgot to mention: I liked the simplicity. Not too much is going on, and that's what really makes it good. Too often music bombards us with everything at once, and that's cool if you love that epic and action type, but hearing a nice little tune is really comforting and gentle to the ears and mind. Too deep? Nah, I'm sure someone will get it. =)

Fullmetal Alchemist really showed you how brotherly love is important, especially if you've gone through a rough childhood with your sibling(s). And this song always makes me want to cry. This violin cover holds a very special place for me as my introduction to FMA. After a few years of listening to this piece, I finally expressed interest in watching it. My friend told me to watch Brotherhood, so I did, and it was a decent show. However, I could not for the life of me find this song in the soundtrack and was utterly disappointed with that fact. (Little did I know, I was looking in the wrong place.) I later discovered that there were actually a lot of people that loved the original FMA, which was surprising since I’d been explicitly told not to watch it because it was bad and not accurate to the manga. Looking further in, I decided this show was right up my alley and gave it a watch; since then, it’s become one of my favorite shows (and soundtracks) of all time, and I owe it to Taylor Davis for bringing it to my attention.

Great cover of a great piece. FMA may have a few dips in quality every now and then, but it's one of the few anime that's actually thoughtful and poignant, actually has a lot on its mind. I recommend it to anyone. I knew I would like it from when first I heard this piece. Lovely series, truly.

I intentionally clicked on this video, having watched it several times before and knowing exactly what to expect. But the second it began I could feel a lump in my throat. This song is so powerful and brings back so many memories. I wish I could experience FMA for the first time again, and I don't often say that about shows, movies, games, etc. that I love. 2 and a half years after you posted it, this video still amazes me. So glad to see you still posting wonderful music on KZbin.
