Interesting to hear that the carpet side does well in humid conditions. I prefer carpet bags and they always slow down for me when it gets humid.

Depends on the bags but a lot of carpet materials speed up with moisture. It also depends on how humid. As the boards start to get sticky, the carpet slows way down. Once the humidity gets to the point that the boards start to get a little damp, the carpet material speeds up. Ultra had a video out showing the Widow-R on humid boards. I can't seem to find it now. If I come across I'll share the link for you.

Now that all the different viper r's have been out a while.... they play very different... i have the 2nd release white red.... been playing with a friends green ones and the green is not as floppy and a lot faster

I can't speak directly about the different Viper Rs because I haven't throw too many of them. Ultra claims there is no difference in the different colored bags. From my experience, no two sets of bags will play exactly the same. There are so many variables that go into how the bags play. That Viper R carpet can be manipulated to play fast or slow. If you rough it up, it will slow way down. If you keep it smooth, it will play faster. My Viper Rs played really slow but that was because I threw them outside on concrete. That concrete really roughed up the carpet and caused it to slow down. If I used a fabric shaver on it to clean up the fuzz, it would speed up.

Great content as always, Mike! How would you compare the slow side to BG Vikings? More or less dynamic?

The Viking slow side is going to play a touch slower. I find the Viking is easier to cut and roll because it's a fuller, less floppy bag. The Viper R is slightly more hole friendly. The Vioer R is better if you are just looking to slide bags in the hole with the occasional block. If you want to play a dirty style game with cuts and rolls, go with the Viking.

I was thinking the same thing about the fuzz on the carpet side of the Viper-Rs. Mine have definitely slowed down a good amount since I first got them.

Mine is playing close to a 4 now. I haven't tried shaving off the fuzz yet because I like the way it plays at the slower speed.

I like these a little more than the Viper Bs. Speeds are similar between the two but I like the slow side material of the Rs better than the Bs. IMO, the slow side of these is slower than the Fallout X or Sorcerer. It would depend on what speed you are looking for and the conditions you are playing on. On faster boards, I would rather have the Rs but on slower boards give me the Fallout X or Sorcerer.

Not that I'm aware of. That's a very unique carpet. However, the new ACL year started Aug 1st. Bag companies had to stop selling the 2021-2022 stamped bags. They are coming out with the 2023 stamped bags now. I expect that Ultra will be adding some to their inventory soon.

After you throw these, you'll get an idea of whether you want a slower bag or faster bag. Once you figure out what speeds you like, then that will help in choosing the next bag. Reynolds, Local Bags, Swag Bags and All Cornhole make great bags for a great price. They make is easier for you to buy a couple different sets to see what you like. The Typhoon and All Slides 2.0 are both great all around bags. They are bags that you can use as a beginner and continue to use as you improve.

I recently bought a set of Widow R's and wondering how the Viper R's compare to them. I have a new set of BG Vikings as well that seem to be too slow for me so concerned with a slower slow side than what the Widow R's have.

I have not tried the Widow-R yet. I'm fairly certain that the slow side is the same as the Viper-R. The fast side is the only difference between the bags. If you like the Vikings but want a faster bag, check out the BG Wizards. Another option is the Fallout X by Buffalo Boards. I'm in the process of reviewing them now. I should have a video up in a couple weeks.

I been throwing widow R and they just have no grab around the hole for me and they are broken in. Viper R are barely slightly bigger and I feel that extra little size grabs the hole real good

BG doesn't have a bag like the Viper-R. BG doesn't even have a bag that uses a hybrid material.

I don't have a link but you can search it. They are called carpet fuzz removers or carpet shavers. They have manual and electric ones.

Yes it has. Depending on the boards, it's playing at 4-5 speed right now. It's almost identical to the Viper-B slow speed.

The carpet side is different on the two. The Fallout X is a much faster material. The Viper Rs have a stickier slow side. Your looking at a slow side speed of 6 for the Fallout X and 4 for the Viper R. They both have a similar template size and flop. Fast sides are the same also. If you like a faster bag, go with the Fallout X.

The fast side is the same but the slow side on these is a little slower than the Fallout X. These play at a speed of 4/9 and the Fallout is a 6/9. Both are about the same template and floppiness.
