It seems a painful irony that developers often destroy the very landmarks and communities that make a particular area desirable to begin with.

The Licorice 🍕 on Sunset was THE Punk Rock store on the strip ! That West LA store was next door to Music Odyssey on Wilshire. Rhino Westwood and Moby Disc in the valley had punk as well. And the monthly Capitol Records swap on Saturday nights in the Palace parking lot ! Great times ! Memories 😎 !

The sunset strip was prolific! We had so much fun up there, and yes the flyers covered the streets at the end of the night. My time up there was mid 80s to about ‘93. If I wasn’t at the strip I was at Helter Skelter (goth club). Growing up in Los Angeles was quite the adventure. This was a fun vlog Jordan, thank you!

I loved Vicky's book so of course I loved seeing her and hearing her stories in person! That is so sad that LA is getting rid of so much history for apartment buildings again. I am very grateful the two of you connected when you did so that we could see and hear some great music history. It doesn't seem like it was that long ago but time marches on . Thank you Jordan

The same thing is happening everywhere. It's called gentrification and it's heartbreaking. These places are historically and culturally important. I was sad when CBGB's in NY went. Manny's guitar shop too. London has lost a lot of important places. They get replaced with soulless steel and glass buildings that I loathe.

NOOOO. Not the VIPER ROOM!!!! And I never got to see it in person. I'm so sad! I love to listen to Vicky. Have to buy her book! We're about the same age I'd say and those were my days of The Crue and G&R. Also, the L&N railroad ran right by my house growing up in southern Illinois. Great stuff but sad news, Jordan. Thank you for recording this.

I really enjoyed the vlog with Vicky Hamilton. I bought her autographed book, but haven't had a chance to read it yet. Her life also spans my era, although we moved in different circles lol. She seems like a very friendly up front kind of person, who has a wealth of rock n roll history and information firsthand. Hope to see more of her in the future, and that her book becomes the movie she's dreaming of. Thanks to you both for the great vlog.

Great memories to have captured. I really miss records stores. Vickie has so much history to share and it's great she has a book out so we don't loose it. I'm sorry that they are going to bulldoze another historic block. Jordan the Vlog you did on the Viper Room, some people thought the one co-owner that went missing and was never found, might be buried back in that back dirt floor or wall. I'm now going to be real curious if they find anything. Jordan your Vlogs are a recorded history of that town. Just from the time you started doing this you've captured lots of spots that are now bulldozed. Keep it up. Maybe someday you can do a compilation of the history of the town as it was before they tore it down. It's like they are doing Plastic Surgery on the old girl and now you wouldn't recognize her. Again, another outstanding Vlog.

What a great vlog. I've definitely have to go to Vicky's website and buy her book. I love stories like that and I've been in that store countless times and didn't know it was Licorice Pizza. That really gets me angry that their demolishing that whole block for apartments. That whole block is historical history and they don't care at all. I've been to the viper room countless times and even seen friends bands play there. La is crowded enough and last thing they need is more apartments. I'm still pissed that House of Blues Sunset is gone. Keep up the great work Jordan, I love your vlogs and watch them when I wake up before I go to work.

Being a teenager in the 1970's Hollywood was magical and one of the best times of my life. I remember when the most modern building added at the time was the Pacific Design Center and we'd look at that and go "What the hell?" My niece who is older than me was Carol Kings daughter Sherri's best friend that I had a crush on but, was 3 years younger(me 13 and she 16). I was a school mate of Slash at Bancroft Jr. High but, didn't realize it fully until I learned his real name of Saul Hudson. When I heard his real name it clicked because he did have the same hair back then and played the air guitar all the time. Now every time I visit Hollywood and my childhood friends I see another something old torn down and replaced with something ugly. Remember Harry's Open Pit BBQ at Sunset and Crescent Heights? I friend of the family Bill Mitchell owned the car wash at Santa Monica and La Brea and now it isn't even recognizable to what it was. All the tourist go to Pinks for the hot dogs but, I go for the chili cheese tamale which isn't the best in the world but, a childhood fav. Jordan, you've done a better job at showing off Hollywood than anyone else I've ever seen and I lived it where you showed up many years later. Too bad you moved away before I came across your vlogs. At least you provide a place for me to share my experiences on your page.

Please, update us on the demolition of that historic block - progress once more becomes destructive. :-/ will be interesting to see if the replacement structure can pay for itself, it won't have history to draw on. Thank you for getting this if nothing more than the historical fact I used to belong to the Historical Society but could not afford membership any longer. This is very sad and sadder hearing her say that LA doesn't care about history. Sad fact that seems so true. Now history is extremely being erased at NASA speed. I'm glad I grew up when I did. So much is being missed out on but they truly don't know what they are missing. Like a full circle of the sayings: • appreciate what you got • you don't know what you got until it's gone • you don't know what your missing So sad but so grateful to you for your post - posts that will help preserve memories for those who didn't even know of cellphones - not having that phone/camera; a basic norm camera was not cheap so we had to rely on minds, souvenir postcards (lol) I've always been told I'd die due to nostalgia - isn't it the truth lol Again much love and thx
