Imo, I think what made NFS U 1&2 so good, is the fact that, not only you had tons of costumization options and you could costumize your car however you wanted, but also somehow made you feel what is like to be part of a comunity, namely tunning community, and is for that reason it was so good, it made you feel that you were part of something, and because of that, I realy also liked NFS PS because of the racing/tunning community vibes. And NFS MW 2005 was also good because, although you could still costumize your car, it had good story line, did not made you feel that you were part of something imo though, but that thrill of going up the ranks to kick Rasor ass so you could get your BMW was cool, but the best was really the pursuits, they were awsome, problably the best part of it! So that 4 type of vibes, "sensation of being part of a community", "car costumization", "good story line" and "thrilling pursuits", I think it was that, that was missing on the recent NFS games in some way or another. I don't know how the NFS Heat looks like, so I don't know if they implemented well those 4 aspects, but in the previous ones it lacked in some aspects. One thing they could also add, is giving sim-arcade physics and multiple performance tunning like they gave in NFS U or NFS PS, but this is my opinion...

Underground 2 is where i started with this franchise since 7 years old. I was never able to fully complete the career due to, from some reason, being clue less that i had to do magazines at Stage 3, even though i did the same with them at previous stages. Last year, after 11 years i beat the whole game. Caleb as the final opponent was stupidly easy to beat, used a not-so-much upgraded Corolla to win. Guranteed it is possible to beat him with stock SUVs, maybe slightly upgraded at least. After beating Caleb and getting brought back to where the event was marked, Celebration by Unwritten Law played, it perfectly fitted the moment of finishing the game for me after so long.

NFSU2 is a great example of arcade racing game physics: you don't need to drift around corners to be fun (yes I'm looking at you NFS arcades before Heat). I like the ability to corner at unrealistic speed, like the car has massive downforce, but I hate the drifting around every single corner on tarmac roads. I'm glad Heat has a proper grip mechanic. I used to clear both NFSU and NFSU2 with cars customized with every part except turbo(cause I don't really like adding turbos to great NA engines). I also used to keep one car with all the ridiculous visual for the magazine photos, and the rest of my cars stay clean. Am I the only one who does that?

The best part of UG2 was the ability to remap the ecu and the turbo boost. I am more of wide flat power band than peak of the power since shifting in this game was like a granny. The satisfying feeling after beating my mate with less hp and less shifting. For drift car I would spread the power band wide and flat to avoid rpm drop, For street x short range ratio and stable stiff suspension, slow in fast out is very important in this mode. After returning the nissan, I was start the career with civic and 240sx converted to ferrari look for the magazine and drift stuff, lol 😂 Good memories. Few years ago I decided to finish the career mode one more time and I still had that feeling when the first time I play this game.
