Great question! You schedule your demo so you have 30 minutes to record the 10 minute lesson. It records that block of time that you are in there. Hello Nancy, I am really enjoying your videos! Watching you is like when I am working in some of my colleagues classrooms. I do have my Masters Degree with a concentration in English and Science. However, as I explained to my fellow teachers, while I am finally completing my certification, I am used to working with higher grades and college level. They feel I am awesome with the little ones and should give it a try! I have taught phonics online to pre-K to 4th grade. I enjoyed it! I am the older generation and very low key. The little ones love me and I love them but how do I create a demo setting? I don't have a place set up for that as of yet. I moved back to CT to help my mom. Lost dad 2017, now mom has dementia. Then, any previous "bananas" have been erased. Because of the awkwardness of this, I've decided to do it manually at home. I made up the toothless smile face a few months back. I just submitted my first recording as was informed that I have a second chance. It's a little disappointing that I didn't make it the first time, but I am excited for the opportunity to improve and show the evaluators that I am capable of teaching for the company. Hi Nancy, I originally applied online for VIPKID a few months ago, and didn't attempt "My feelings" video. When I decided that I want to continue the interview process, I tried to schedule an interview. I was only given the option to record a demo video. I was penalized because I didn't follow through with the demo video. I plan to record my demo video in a couple days when I get all of my props. I just became a VIPKID teacher, and I noticed for most of my Trial Classes, the students were doing it on the mobile phone app. I was wondering if they still have the ability to circle and write on the PowerPoints if on a mobile phone app? Most are on ipads. Not sure if they can take the classes from their phones, but I just teach them to use their finger to circle:) I even hold up and ipad and show them how to circle on the screen with my finger:)

Hey Nancy, Your videos were really helpful in my hiring proccess. Sorry I didn't use your referral link! Question: The video is obviously opposite of what I am doing. I point left and I see myself pointing right. But are there any videos that demonstrate what the student is seeing on thier end? I often draw a line in the air from right to left for matching or I attempt to point toward the slides but I don't know if I am pointing off screen. Do you know if they see the same exact thing I am seeing? Or if they see my image on top of thiers or below?

They see what you see! You can see everything on the recordings of your classes! The only thing that is opposite is the directions and when you write letters in the sky/air. The only difference is they see your video on the top and theirs is on the bottom, so that they look like they are looking at you rather than down.

Try and model again and if they never write on the screen then leave it in the feedback. It will be translated to Chinese for the parents to see. If I scoot my chair back to the wall I can stand up comfortably with some room to wiggle in front of my desk! I don't use my webcam to film these videos though and in the classroom it is made square which cuts off some of the background, so we may be closer and background size than you think! Hi Nancy I just finished the demo interview and I think it was very rushed. My interviewer mentioned she was going to skip some slides because she had some other students to interview as well in such a small amount of time. So I was trying to maintain my paste but overall I believe I was very rushed. Have you ever heard of anyone else being treated this way before? You can go to the classroom and click "docs" "Upload by myself" and then "open." You will want to prep and get ready for class before! You can also access the powerpoints from the teacher app! If you need help with the application let me know! If you are already a teacher then WAHOOO! [e-mail]

Hi Nancy! Thank you so much for sharing this wealth of knowledge on youtube. I just applied for vipkids and had my first interview. I passed! But I have one quick question (I'm just curious). The interviewer asked me what my pay expectation was. And I just said $8 cause that's what I was hoping for after my research and he said, "Yes, you will get $20 and hour." So base pay is $8. Should I have gone for $8.50 for $9? I know it's super rare to start at $9, but he asked, so should I have tried? Is that common? I know you don't know the answer. Thank You! Are we required to talk so "bubble gummy?" I taught school in a classroom, but the only time I could see it appropriate to talk that way was if the child was under the age of 5. To do so otherwise I think is condescending and assuming they are little kiddos. This is the one thing holding me back because it's very unnatural for me to talk like I am on Romper Room.
