It wasn’t a false promise. They did decide to continue after not being sure they wanted to and they did go back to writing. But after writing the Bojack movie script multiple times, they finally admitted they were fully burnt out and it was time to stop before the put out crap and began hating the show. I’m sad, but I respect that. As much as I want content, I rather them stop than put out stuff no one wants to watch. And I have found I really like HFIL.

Gohan transformation is one of the most iconic moments in anime history, and team four stars decided to give it a proper tribute, they kept all the elements of the original even the Japanese song (a remix version sang in English). They really outdid themselves on this one

So “The Day of Fate” was the original soundtrack for DBZ. The TFS crew had it translated it into English for this episode. They actually have a lot of character songs on the channel. You should react to those as well. They have a full music video of “ Ill make a man out of you” and Freaza singing a parody of Hamilton.

I think this is one of the best examples of how they realized that not every moment needs to be a joke. Gohan's transformation and really everything leading up to it was serious and a better take on events than the original show. They did a fantastic job of using Cell for humor and not taking away from the most awesome moments.

I hadn't watched any of the original when it aired and several years back is when I started going through the Dragon Ball series (minus GT since everyone told me to just skip it.) In regards to Gohan going SSJ2, I feel TFS's story and set up throughout the series did a better job setting it up. I think I'll always prefer their version of this.
