Though unlike Frieza’s more manic meltdown, Cell is more frightening. He’s still pompous and charming, but he’s screaming and more so than ever before, everything he says is just dripping murderous intent. His “Worst case scenario, you die and get stronger. In the actual story, Vegeta was having an existential crisis after Goku finally died for a second time, and knowing he wouldnt be able to come back, he finds himself unable to prove his might over Goku. Vegeta, all alone, swears to never ever fight again in his life, and (allegedly) sinks into depression. It gets so bad that, in a non-canon movie that sadly we wont get from TFS, everyone is called to a special tournament where everyone is going to participate, even the "Z fighters", and Vegeta is just at home, watching TV. Sees the tournament on TV, and just changes channel.

When 16 retorted to Jimmy Firecracker, he was referring to a different kind of talking head. In media, a "talking head" is a reporter or commentator that is usually shown in a close view, their head. So instead of a full body shot, or showing them behind a desk, you're being reported or commentated to by a *talking head.* Note that Jimmy didn't exactly *deny* it, either!😂 And the names of the Cell Jr's are the names of the voice actors that have played Cell over the years. The most prominent is Norio (named for Norio Wakamoto), but you can't forget Curtis (named for Curtis Arnott, AKA Takahata101, AKA *this* version of Cell). The only one not named for a Cell VA is Vegeta Jr Jr (named for one of Nappa's Saibamen (who was named for, and immediately murdered by, Prince Vegeta, who was named for his father, who, himself, was named for his father, who was, in turn, named for *his* father) from season 1).

TFS did such an amazing job with this episode, the writing, editing and music were all on point. MasakoX who voices both Goku and Gohan does an amazing job too. They really did go out on a high note. I really liked the way they handled Goku and Gohan's relationship. There are way too many people piling on the "Goku is a bad Dad" or "Piccolo is Gohan's real Dad" memes. Goku is no Dad of the year by any means but maybe Piccolo is, the guy who threatened to snap Gohan's neck if he didn't stop crying and then threw him into a mountain, maybe Vegeta is, the guy who did not care when Bulma and baby Trunks were about to die, insults Trunks at every oppertunity and punches him in the stomach because Trunks said something he didn't like. The truth is that Goku loves his son and wants the best for him, every time Goku is dead or training, it's usually to save the world which is kind of important as you know, they kind of live there. And the classic go to example is when Raditz shows up and kidnaps Gohan, Goku's first instinct is to go after Raditz to save Gohan even though in a 1 on 1 Goku would certainly die. He sacrificed himself so that Piccolo could kill Raditz in order to protect Gohan, does this sound like a bad Dad? Or a Dad who is willing to do anything in order to protect his son? When Goku arrives to the battle with Nappa the first thing he does is Gohan and Krillin a senzu, he does the same on Namek. In all these instances Goku is not there because he wants a good fight, he is protecting the people he loves. No. 17 was absorbed by Cell, so when Cell died so did No. 17. When Yamcha wishes for all those killed by Cell to come back to life, No. 17 is included. Not sure if the absorbtion counted as him dying or Cell dying as him dying. In the original series they don't show No. 17 but I believe No. 18 does mention going to find him. He does not appear at all apart from a tiny cameo at the end of the series although he does return in Dragon Ball GT and Super.

Due to 18 not dying when she was absorbed, I'm going to say 17 didn't die from it, either. Still, if he died when Cell exploded, then it doesn't make much sense that he would revive from a wish for everyone 'on Earth' killed by Cell to be revived, because he wouldn't have been on Earth at the time he died. Does the dragon allow some time to pass, or is it because he's from Earth, even though that wasn't what the wish specified? I dunno, I always saw 17's continued existence as strange.

@genostellar11 ай бұрын
@@kuggacouragegx6093 "Just cause u changed doesn't means u aren't a hypocrite" I never said that changing doesn't mean you're not a hypocrite, I said that in this case he wasn't being a hypocrite because what happened was that he changed. Being a hypocrite would be if he thought bad about someone for doing what he does, not for doing what he did and realized was not okay. "when did he admit he was a jerk?" He said he was "kind of a dick" if you want the actual words. Remember when he was trying to get Kami to fuse with him? That's when he said it. "Gohan didn't wanted to fight nor train at all, he was literally a toddler when it began, meaning he literally have no right to be talking at all" This is exactly my point. He wasn't being a hypocrite there, he changed. Learn the difference. People can think and do different things from what they thought or did in the past and that doesn't make them a hypocrite, it makes them different than they were before. A hypocrite is someone who tells you not to do something that they themselves would currently do. Piccolo has not only changed, but he has two other personalities in him influencing him. He isn't the same person who kidnapped Gohan before. "Goku didn't forced his son to do nothing at all." Actually, yeah he did. As Gohan told him, he didn't have a choice, he was given an ultimatum. And yes, Goku kidnapped him, so you really haven't been following this too closely. So there are two main points here. You need to pay more attention and learn what the difference between a hypocrite and a changed man are.

I'm sure you've been told this, but due to a recent project, TFS came out with what's called the Buu Bits, where they did various scenes from the Buu Saga. It's not episodic and more like a series of 30 second to 2 minute clips. The reason they stopped was mostly due to fatigue. They've been going for about 10 years at this point and while they were able to mostly agree with what they wanted to do with the series up to this point, a big case of writer's block hit around this time. It was mostly exposed when trying to write for the Bojack movie, which was nixed. Apparently, one of the big issues was the three main writers (Kaiserneko, Lanipator, and Takahata101) couldn't agree on how Buu should be. Also, the Buu Saga is the longest saga in the series. To put this into perspective, between episode 59 and 60, it took an ENTIRE year for them to have a script they were happy with, get the recordings done, and finish the editing. When episode 60 (part 1) aired, Kaiserneko was working on the finishing touches of part 2. What also got to them was the constant issues with copyright strikes. Around this time, it was almost every week they were getting different episodes pulled from youtube and would frequently have to fight to get them back up. With youtube constantly changing the way they do things, they weren't sure if they had the energy to deal with this issue anymore so they figured to quit on a high note where they can be proud with their work rather than drag it and possibly become miserable. Kaiserneko (the main editor and I think the main boss of TFS) even said that all the frustrations started leading them to HATE the series, which is never a good thing when they all started the project out of love the series. At the time, they were riding on a high and initially thought they had the energy to do the Buu Saga. This quickly wore off though. If you re-watch not only Goku's goodbye to his son and friends, but his monologue with King Kai, you can get the feeling that all of that was TFS saying those things to US as the audience. They were ready to stop. And like they said, it wasn't forever as not only did we get the Shortz and HFIL, but also Buu Bits earlier this year. Since then, they've worked on original artwork to make Dragonball Shortz (one episode involved Chichi giving birth to Goten) and HFIL (featuring Cell arriving in Hell). Since both of these had original animation, they didn't have to worry about copyright strikes AND they weren't limited on what footage already existed. I don't think you should react to them, but they recently finished doing commentary for the entire series. They clue in some of the ideas and behind the scenes happenings on various parts. Definitely should give it a watch during your personal time. Also check out my favorite series of theirs, UnAbridged.

Trunks and Vegeta flipping each other off is a TFS edit I'm pretty sure. Guys aren't typically too open with each other about affection because it feels like vulnerability, so they exchange mock displays of hostility instead. The issue with 16's chip is it was removed from all power sources, which wiped it. Everything that made him who he was vanished into the ether and the dragon can only revive organic life, but with 17 the situation was a bit different, as he was killed by Cell on Earth and was partially organic. Also, a little point that is never explained, when someone has the crackling energy around them it means they've become Super Saiyan 2, which has twice the power multiplier. Then the end scene with Krillin, when he said he was a grower it was followed by a thud. Think he's doin' just fine for himself.

The implication is there in the manga/anime (there's actually a whole bit TFS yeeted into the sun where 18 yells at Krillin because he assumed she and 17 were a couple, because them being siblings was not actually established), but 17 isn't actually shown as being alive until basically the end of the whole series. On another note... So TFS did end up doing SOME of the Buu saga, with what are known as the "Buu Bits", but I can't honestly recommend them for you. They're not really the whole saga... they're just little tiktok-y gags that let them do all the jokes and scenes they regretted not getting to, but without knowing the story they're going to be pretty meaningless. For fans like me who know the story they're great, but they aren't really meant for stand-alone viewing. That said, they are also continuing, sort of, with two other shows set in the DB universe: Dragon Shorts and HFIL. The former is hit or miss (I love the Vegeta one, Yamcha one is meh), but HFIL is where they've been focusing the last few years and it's really fun.

17 was killed on kaio's planet along with cell... the wish was meant to bring everyone back who died "on earth"
@tomatoisjp11 ай бұрын
@craigime the whole thing is screwy in the manga and in tfs. Kaioshin supposedly declined resurrection in the manga, but that makes no sense because he was already in the afterlife and could have traveled with Goku regardless of having a halo, and his actions in both the afterlife filler arc AND Super make it clear he wasn't a fan of being dead at all. Tfs specifying on earth makes things a bit neater and more consistent. That said, you can hand wave it in one of two ways. Either he effectively died when cell absorbed him (thus why he appeared in the same island) and the dragon counted that OR whatever dna remained of him as part of Cell's genetic template finally died when Gohan blew Cell up, making Cell responsible for his death while he was on earth. And before you go "that's a stretch" the Manga had Guru come back to life because he died early due to grief over the namekians. 17 being allowed a resurrection on that kind of technicality is hardly a first.

I'm sad you missed the Death Note reference. I'm also sad that you missed the biggest father moment Goku had with Gohan when he sacrificed himself. I'm super sad you skipped Cell's version of My Way. TFS didn't do the full Buu Saga because they were suffering from burnout and copyright issues. They did do some Buu Saga clips when TotallyNotMark did a Buu Saga review, you should check those out. 17 was revived in both the abridged and main series from the dragon balls.

In the actual series (at least in the dub), Cell's explanation for how he returned to his final form is that his nucleus had recorded the essence of his completed state, so when he regenerated from just his nucleus the cellular data that was replicated was that of his complete form. Not in those exact words mind you, but that's how it breaks down based on his explanation. The Super Saiyan 2 equivalent power and aura were the Zenkai Boost being added onto that.

Also goku had no idea about ssj2 He tought gohan's anger wouldve make him go full force, cuz gohan already had enough power, ssj2 was basically overkill

If you're looking for more too watch, there is always Sword Art Online Abridged, for dbz there are the HIFL episodes, TFS made a Final Fantasy 7 abridged series, and there's also Goblin Slayer Abridged. If you want my opinion, Sword Online Abridged is widely regarded as one of the top Abridged series

So 17 and 18 were originally humans, so wishing them back with the dragon balls as people killed by Cell would still work. 17 was still killed by cell hence he woke up on the island where he was absorbed :)

How did 17 leave Cell.... I have no idea. I kind of assumed he just needed a chip or programing that was contained in each android to finish his development into a perfect fighter, so he'd just digest the rest of them. Why he had the whole android in is weird. I sort of like the idea he got punched so hard he had the perfect knocked out of him or have like a 17 egg with her face on it, again it comes down to why keep the full body inside him. Can you tell this is the part the editor made a bunch of changes, how it seems to pivot between the androids, the other androids, Cell and then Cell without big lips.

Goku’s speech about not coming back but maybe someday was a love-letter to the fans. TFS weren’t sure at the time whether they would do season 4 or not. But, then at the end there was an announcement that they were doing season 4. However, while working on the Bojack movie, they later announced they wrote and rewrote and rewrote the script and just were not happy with it, and they finally came to the conclusion that they were burnt out. So, instead of putting out subpar content and maybe even risking coming to resent Dragon Ball, which they loved, they changed their minds about continuing and made their announcement. The announcement was clipped from the end of the episode. It is sad, but I respect it. At least it led to Dragon Shortz and HFIL which was not bound by previous stories and was all their ideas. Also, more recently, Totally Not Mark did a deep study and TFS made new DBZA content in the form of Buu Bits for it which they later bundled into a long video on their own channel.

They focused on the chip to illustrate that 16 has completely died. 41:29 "It looked like they exploded Kami's planet." King Kai's planet, actually. You probably just misspoke, but just in case. Also, while TFS didn't make a Buu saga, they DID make a clip show called The Buu Bits, so you could react to that. It won't tell you everything that happened, but it should still be fun.

17 was brought back to life from the first wish, just like all the normal humans Cell completely absorbed into himself while he powered up first form...not having a body wasn't a problem here.

the first wish specified "on earth". 17 died on kaio's planet with cell
@thebobssled11 ай бұрын
17 dies when he is absorbed by Cell, not when Cell dies when he gets disintegrated by Gohan. The wish was to revive everyone on Earth killed by Cell, so 17 comes back. At least I'm pretty sure lol
@craigime11 ай бұрын
who told you that? 18 was still alive when she got absorbed by cell, so it would follow that 17 was too... so 17 died when cell blew up on kaio's planet- so the wish shouldn't have brought him back
@thebobssled11 ай бұрын
Oh ur right actually lol, but I'd argue that Cell blowing himself up and killing 17 in the process should be considered 17 dying by Cell.
@Crazyee829 күн бұрын
he died completely after gohan killed cell, as u can see they blew cell up time and time again and android 18 still came out whole, so when he got completely disintegrated on earth by gohan, that’s when 17 dies.

The thing with Cyborg 16 (yes, Cyborg) is that he was purely mechanical and his conscience was just a glitch. That's also why Gero kept him in the basment. If you rebuild him, it will just be a new 16 without what makes the original what he was. Also yes, he had organic parts but was mostly mechanical unlike 18 and 17. So, no resurrection. That's why is death is so impactfull. You can't revive him. Also... Oh yeah, cell is organic. So are his cell junior. The smoke and explosions are here to cover what the manga showed: they are gored. Like YEAH! Really gored by Gohan.
@thecoffeemainiak540016 күн бұрын
The Cell Jr's are completely biological like cell himself. They turn to dust in the anime as a form of censorship. In the manga its blood, guts and body parts instead of dust.

Any plans for "Dragon shorts" also made by TFS? Also HFIL which is about Cell in Hell? O: TFS also made Buu Saga clips, but I guess if you haven't seen the Buu Saga itself, it would make almost no sense. The Abridged version doesn't really explain it, and even the official explanation in the anime is rather vague. But basically, Cell regenerated into his perfect form because the nucleus responsible for his survival retained data from when he was perfect. Allowing it to recreate his perfect form's body without the need of Android 18.

I can't be the only one who thinks Trunks' death would have been the perfect catalyst for Vegeta to achieve his own Super Saiyan 2 state, right? He winds up achieving it in the timeskip, presumably through the same forced method that is discovered/detailed by the Universe 6 Saiyans, but am I alone in thinking that it would have been poetic if this menace from the future ultimately sealed his fate by killed a second iteration of Future Trunks, this time in front of a past iteration of Trunks' dad, and then said father lost it, went Super Saiyan 2, and basically one-shot Cell with a massive Big Bang Attack or something?
