You might have seen Bentley Health Service (BHS) in the news or on your social media feeds recently, and that’s because we have an exciting update to share.
Last Thursday, Premier Roger Cook and Health Minister Amber-Jade Sanderson dropped by at BHS to announce siteworks commencing on the fabulous new maternity suite at the hospital.
A WA-first, the centre will provide a contemporary, evidence-based model of care (MoC) to pregnant women with low-risk pregnancies in the East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) catchment.
“Choice and stability”
In a press conference held on the lawns outside A Block, Premier Cook informed the gathered pack of journalists and camera crew that the new midwifery-led service would offer women the option of care by the same endorsed midwife for the duration of their pregnancy.
“The new Midwifery Birth Centre at Bentley Hospital will provide choice and stability for women during this exciting stage of their lives,” the Premier said.
“We know how important continuity of care is, which is why the centre will connect women with an endorsed midwife who will be with them for their entire pregnancy journey.”
Excitingly, the Premier introduced BHS’ very own Carli Beange as our first publicly employed and credentialed endorsed midwife.
