To the extent that many activists are advocating indiscriminately removing these checks IS a problem but not at the scale suggested here.

Yep, I transitioned in my late twenties and am happier. Although the surgery costs 10k, may or may not get it, I completely agree minors aren't ready to handle the world after transitioning and can't handle those decisions without therapy or the hate they will get from people.

Worldwide! A teenager just died in the uk from necrotizing fasciitis from getting vaginoplasty surgery. They couldn’t undergo standard vaginoplasty as they had undeveloped genitals as a result of early puberty suppression caused by taking puberty-suppressing hormones. Within 24 hours of having a vaginoplasty, they started showing major complications. Necrotising fasciitis was confirmed in the days after the surgery. Despite large doses of intravenous antibiotics and repeated surgical debridement (the removal of dead or infected tissue), the patient went into multiple organ failure and died.

Children can't buy cigarettes or get a tattoo but they're allowed to "decide" to cut off their body parts? I cannot comprehend how anyone can support the butchering of children, regardless of which side of the aisle you stand on. Puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, radical cosmetic surgery, genital surgery, etc. should be completely inaccessible until minimum 18. IMO it should be at least 20.
