The creators made is super clear that they took inspiration from Serbian-born French graphic novelist and amazing painter Enki Bilal and his Nikopol trilogy. Also, in Bilal's other works "32 Decembre" one character has his head chopped and preserved in a liquid filled glass jar, still living, Futurama style. This also happens at one point in Gurren Lagann.

Viral was all about the helmet to start with. Second. Half, i swear he didn't care. It wasn't even about upping Kamina in his own machine. He'd grown as much as Simon did and while he couldn't channel it, he embraced spiral energy. Lore tarding aside, fuck I love this song
