I don’t think we’ll ever see another drummer capable of doing what Virgil does. He’s up there with Buddy Rich in terms of being a complete one-off. It’s amazing watching a lifetimes effort and dedication to being the absolute best possible musician.

I'LL TRY (LOL) BUT YEP YOU'RE RIGHT. I'M SOLELY IMPRESSED WITH HIS TOTAL COMPLETE COMMITMENT DEDICATION TO THE INSTRUMENT. THE VIDEO VIRGIL LIVE IN STOCKHOLM TAKES THE WHOLE CAKE IT SUMS IT UP

I've always loved VD but my favourites list has grown to include a few other names; Dave Weckl (master of dynamics), Matt Garstka (serves and pushes music), Marco Minnemann (can do anything on kit), Dali Mraz (the new Buddy Rich for me), Dennis Chambers (king of fusion drumming) and Travis Orbin (ambidextrous monster).
@frankcirrito65504 жыл бұрын
I agree. I think it is the Monk - Like approach Virgil displayed early on in his career when it came to training. I watched "Enter the Dragon" the other day and Bruce Lee reminded me of Virgil in regards to self discipline and training.
@TheJollyMisanthrope4 жыл бұрын
Musical expression is the most important part. You can have the greatest sets of technical skills, and book knowledge of theory, but if you can't take that to the kit and express yourself musically, it's a wasted effort.
@frankcirrito65504 жыл бұрын

Love you Virgil you're my favorite artist of all time. Every note, from your 32nd's, to your whole notes, and hell even your rests, I feel the purpose behind and see the love you have for them . Each note brother. Thanks for all you do for the music , the drums , and in turn the human race. You give us so much hope in such a watered down plastic society...so much hope for the future . Thank you Virgil! John from Buffalo.

Virgil, this is my favorite tune on Ruination. It is absolutely stellar!!! So progressive and so melodic that it transcends the boundaries of musical composition. Excellent job , also from the rest of the band: always i liked Alex Argento , very original musician. This beatyful track remaind me the ''Atavachron' atmosphere . Is it Vergil, Buddy, Vinnie, Dave, Marco, Dennis, Aaron, Eric, etc. etc. pp........I would say they are ALL the BEST in what they are doing......

Except for Virgil who is just a smidge better than everyone else. Hell, he plays like this AND writes most of the stuff in all of the bands he is in. Insane, since mist drummers can't even read notes.
