I love the baths. I've done this tour twice but NOT on a cruise, a boat excursion, with a guide. I am not sure why a cruise line would not have a guide. This is super-fun, but you have to be careful and be in good shape to enjoy. The boat excursions get you there faster and easier with a guide.

I went to St. John 4 years ago for my 50th birthday. Stayed on St. John and rented a jeep. Took a boat ride to Virgin Gorda. There was virtually no one there and the group that was there left and then their truly wasn't anyone! So much more relaxing and pretty that what I saw in this video. Who wants to travel that far to see wall to wall people?! I even had time for the restaurant on the top. The food was awesome and there were chickens running under the table plus there was a POOL!

You don’t have to walk through the rocks with the crowds. And we’ve heard there are not always crowds. The beaches around there are nice and you can play on the rocks without having to follow the leader through them. It really is a cool place! Went January 2010. NCL. Booked a private speedboat right out of Road Town, dropped us off right in Devils Bay. About $40 USD each. And there we maybe a total of 30 people we saw for the entire 3-4 hours we were there. It was fantastic!

That sounds great! A lot of people have commented they will not go because of the crowds. We recommend going no matter what. If you could comment here on the company you used (if you were happy with them), it would be helpful. Thank you for your comments and we hope you subscribe.

Thanks for the upload. Can't believe how crowded it was. Would you recommend wearing shoes through the baths or would barefoot be fine? I've read different forums and got a million different answers. Some say barefoot is better, some suggest reef sandals, others water shoes, and lastly I heard boat shoes are the best. Any advice?

We wore water shoes. They worked out fine. We could have gone barefoot but you never know what people have thrown down. It isn't always this crowded.

Hello, eventually, I have booked this trip on coming Nov. I do hope less people there. By the way, what types of shoe should you recommend to climb this trail? We do not want to spend money to buy water shoes for using one time only. Is it a flip flops, ok? or Sandal? or running shoes?
@PortMonkeys5 жыл бұрын
wingyan tam Hi, I would not wear flip flops. Sandals may be OK, if they don’t fall off easily. Running shoes are good, but may get wet. That’s what we would wear if we didn’t have water shoes. Thanks for your comments and we hope you subscribe to our channel. Have fun!

Hi! Do you remember what time your excursion was? We’re going early and I heard to take some pics but skip Devils Bay and do the caves 1st before they get crowded and swim at the end beach. What do you think? We’ve also got rigged water shows and small waterproof backpacks! Hopefully those things will help with the day! Thanks for your tips!
@PortMonkeys5 жыл бұрын
Hi. I think we met in the theater around 7:30 am. We were on the boat by 8 am. It's not the time you leave but how many other ships are in port that day (Tortola and Virgin Gorda). I think we had four. Also, we were told to go through in one direction, but when we got to the other side, they said it was the wrong direction. It's fun and very cool looking, even if it is crowded. Please subscribe to our channel.

Quick question. Once you got to the Baths, did you have to go through the boulder caves again to get back to the bus or is there a trail from the Baths directly to where the bus would be? And by the way, great video; it helped me decide if this is something I could do.
@PortMonkeys5 жыл бұрын

What the heck are you all complaining about? If you are on a ship, let's say it has 400 passengers, you book a tour on a small Island do you logically expect that you'll be the only one on that tour? Maybe there were other ships in port that day.
@PortMonkeys4 жыл бұрын
Yes, that's a fact. Big ships, big crowds. The real problem at the Baths is that people enter the trail at both ends and in many places along the way, you can't pass. Don't forget to subscribe.

After listening to this negative video commentary I am now reluctant to do this excursion...I have wanted to see the Virgin Gorda Baths for a very long time...I don't mind the crowds and only want to see the beauty that Gorda holds...was the walk through the Caves rough or just congested....what happened to your tour guide....why did they leave you hanging while going through the caves
@PortMonkeys4 жыл бұрын
We always wanted to go too and we're glad we did. The crowds are not bad enough not to see this place. The walk was not too difficult, but there were some ladders and steps. It has some narrow passages where you might need to crawl. Our guide said "meet you back at the parking lot". Thanks for your comments and we hope you subscribe to our channel.

We went a few years ago and loved it but we went with a ships excursion on a catamaran to the baths and got there before the crowds. We walked through the baths the opposite way you did and snorkeled back on the outside and avoided the crowds that way! We had to swim to and from our cat but was so much fun even sailing past Necker Island--Sir Richard Bransonès Island!

Seems like you are the type of traveler who is better suited staying at the buffet and the free ice cream machine. This is the most beautiful place in the Caribbean and you have to do some walking and bending over to get there. You were complaining before you even left the ship theater. This is a beautiful experience for most, especially younger people. You should probably stick with the Segway tour to Starbucks.
