Both my favorite bands, Manowar is raw power metal like no other, Virgin Steele is metal but more of a polished sound, VS is very under rated, Edward is a exceptional guitarist. I dont give a shit, and dont care who may be better than who, I enjoy both bands.

By the gods, yes When will mankind bestow upon the faults they have made. Not to worship Virgin Steele as the greatest band ever is mankind's most cruel sin ever. The freedom though kindness they offer is incomparable to the faux-ness other bands offer. The flames of their emotion rise as the dragon of their intelligence, above all other's heads. They rise, through individiual minds, not as the mainstream appeal. As a marriage between heaven and hell, they rule.

Most modern bands seem to have forgotten this in simply trying to emulate the past, or be "more extreme" (in some fashion - weather more melodic, brutal, technical, shocking, epic, et al) than previous bands, completely missing the point. @Arjozof Huh? This obviously isn't a case of left or right - Manowar is a gimmick band, Virgin Steele explores concepts outside of the karmic social cycle and consensus reality. If anything, VS could be argued to be more traditionally conservative than Manowar is; then again, it doesn't matter, because music is a spiritual art, not a political jerk off fest.

@Arjozof Manowar's thing has always hit me as a gimmick (sorry to keep repeating this), and frankly, their music really doesn't offer much beyond Sign of the Hammer. Their proclaiming that "every man be king" and what-not is directly in line with liberal ideology, as well as the attitudes they claim to have on the ego-feeding songs. Though I disagree with VS on a lot of points, their music never seems to ego feed, either themselves or their fans. It stays on track and keeps the psychodrama out.
