I find the monologue that she did at the beginning was a real accomplishment.

its one of the best parts of the movie. She has an amazing voice. It baffles me how they removed it in some of the extended cut/fan edit versions only to replace it with an extremely dry technical introduction similar in tone to what you might hear in an industrial training video.

Me too. I was so used to the TV version. When I saw her for the first time doing the monologue, I thought "WOW this woman is just too beautiful for words!"

1:30 Seeing her face 11 feet tall, (almost 4 meters) in the movie theater - she made quite the impression ! :-)

Great monologue really set up the story if you were familiar with Dune. Know then it is the year 10191 her voice was almost hypnotic.

She's a highlight of the film. I wish they could have spread the story across more movies.

If there's one thing Lynch's Dune did right it was Irulan. Her intro kicks off the movie so well. It'd be awesome to see her work with Lynch again.

She got lucky: big film, star-filled cast, simple part, kind director. Sure it failed, but at least it is a cult classic. She got a good start.

Done up as a Princess, she looked older in Dune than she did in Electric Dreams made 2 years later! She looked like a school girl in that.

There has to be a Lynch story about the move from Eraserhead to Elephant Man in terms of adjusting to the tech and responsibility. Everything. Martin Scorsese says he used to throw up on the way to work.
@earlpugg1322 Жыл бұрын
Yes, I’d like to see this too. In some interviews he talks a bit about the responsibility and moving into working with big stars in Elephant Man but I’ve never seen any specifics on the tech side.

This is how you get noticed for a role you barely had a few lines in and perhaps 2 minutes of screen time: be a well known actress after the role you played, be prominently the first on screen (Dune intro). Have that and even if you have only one sentence on screen and a few seconds and there you have it, you're known for that role in the movie.

That wasn't the point. They were speaking figuratively. They were saying 'he's so polite he might as well be Canadian' (Canadians having a reputation for politeness in comparison to Americans).

I think that the greatest accomplishment of this Dune movie was somehow making this gorgeous, intelligent woman look flat chested.
@GregOrCreg3 жыл бұрын
Not really. I don't think the costumes make her look remotely flat-chested. However, I do like that the film focuses more on her beautiful facial features than her body.
