I recently visited Fort Moultrie in Charleston South Carolina. I did not realize that Edgar Alan Poe was stationed there. I believe he was eighteen. Such a cool side note in his life. They also have a restaurant there called poe's tavern, that is great.

Not for nothin', as my aunt would say, but I would happily watch a compilation video of Jacob approaching various critters, asking if they are friendly and then giving them all the pats. It makes me happy. Thanks Jacob.

My daughter had scarlet fever when she was 2 or 3. I thought at first maybe chicken pox or something. She was getting a rash and some bumps. Once I took her into the hospital they said it was a good thing I brought her in when I did because some of her organs were not working well. She made it . She's 26 now. Thank God for medicine.

Ive lived in Richmond for 10 years, and lived in the Churchill area for over 6. So cool to see an outside perspective of RVa staples. RIP is amazing, i know watching online it seems very questionable but they take a very strong stance in ethical collecting of both taxidermy and animal remains in general. In regards to the Richmond Vampire, the true story is incredibly sad. The train tunnel collapse you talked about did happen, the train is still buried actually. But the “vampire” was a worker that escaped the tunnel during the collapse. He was working next to the train engine and when the tunnel collapsed the engine essentially blew up, the man emerged with horrific burns, chipped teeth , and died of his injuries soon after escaping the tunnel. There are a couple variations on the vampire story but the one told is the most common. I hope you come back and see the rest of the things RVa has to offer! Long live the Poe cats!

That little girl’s grave with the dog watching over her reminds me of this grave in New Jersey I believe the egg harbor city cemetery there’s the grave of a little girl that has a dog holding a leash in its mouth with a tear drop on its face. The little girl had drowned a long with her dog.

Poe was an interesting fellow, not too long ago I saw a program where they ran test on a lock of his hair and determined that he died from rabies as opposed to alcohol poisoning as was believed at one time. I rather liked his character of Dupin, it's a pity that he didn't do more with him, he could have rivaled Sherlock Holmes.
@wildirishrose335 жыл бұрын
My husband and I just found the video of your stop in Richmond, VA and your visits to Rest in Pieces, the Hollywood Cemetery, and the Edgar Allen Poe museum. That video went up the day our roommate and best friend died, and he was a huge fan of all of those places. So it's kind of ironic. Just wanted to drop a note and let you know that just 45 minutes north of Richmond is downtown Fredericksburg where you can go to a colonial apothecary shop, Mary Washington's House, Chatham Manor, Kenmore Inn, the Fredericksburg Museum, all kinds of antique thrift stores, and there are confederate battlefields (Marye's Heights) downtown as well as in adjoining Spotsylvania. And if you like roadside zoos, in Luray, which is about an hour and 45 minutes away from Fredericksburg in the mountains, there's a rescue zoo that is absolutely fantastic. It is, by far, my favorite zoo. They've got a tiger who loves ice cream, a porcupine named Snuggles, and a giant dinosaur out in front of the building that just got a makeover. Super close to that is Luray Caverns which is amazing. Cheers.
