My sincere condolences - but what a wonderful way to bring back the essential memories. I use this song for its angst and positivity to clear my kind of dark thoughts of loss. In a world of deception and wickedness, where even music no longer has value, it is only produced for careerism, this boy has always made music in an authentic and non-conformist way, reaching the point of touching the soul strings of anyone who has listened to him. Precisely because he himself is a true soul. He is an Azzurra blue soul. These are the angels that God sends to earth, thanks Richard. My heart goes out to the fellow peeps on here cos they miss their parent. Richard ashcroft perfectly describes the horror of seeing a parent going through cancer and not being able to do anything to stop it. When all hope is lost its crushing. I sang this song to my dad and held his hand. I hope more than anything i see him again.

On point, your correct. i'm still suffering 20 years later, i thought thing's got easier but i guess not :-(

Phenomenal, his voice has actually got better after all these years. Can't help think of my grandparents whenever I hear this song, most of them died after horrid battles with cancer of one form or another. I have only two vivid memories of my dad's dad, one of which is seeing him in his bed hooked up to breathing apparatus, too weak to move, and even as a kid I could see the suffering in his face. I was older when my mum's parents passed a few years apart, both of them suffered terribly and it was so awful to see not only their health declining but their will to live. The song is right, the drugs don't work, they prolong the suffering. One of my favourite.songs.of all time but it always put me in such a rubbish mood after 😅 fuck cancer.

This song takes me back to 20 yrs ago, when I saw my mum going through chemotherapy. Sad, but cathartic, art turning feelings into words. I love Richard, wish he could come play in Brazil.

What an era for music, I started the nineties as a 15 year old Mancunian and ended the decade in my mid twenties. Through that time (in no particular order) i enjoyed acid house, old skool raves, nirvana, Madchester, oasis, the verve etc. wow how lucky I was.

Ridiculously talented, under rated, brilliance... I’ll be listening to this in 30 years time and still finding his voice incredible .. What a song

How the fuck is he under rated? Seriously.

A good voice doesn't ever sound not good. Sure the sound quality is bad on some recordings from the 30s/40's but you can still hear how good the singing is

Was around when he made the scene...be 20+ years now...Glad to hear you'll still be listening, but don't call someone under-rated because you just heard of them.
@chrismercer18885 жыл бұрын
xzysyndrome - cheers for the reply.. But sorry mate, ashcroft and the verve were a big part of my musical upbringing when I was a teenager. I just always felt like he/they never got as much attention as oasis or others at the same time. Anyway, Imo guys a legend. Was simply sharing a thought.

Sorry to hear about your brother. I know what you mean, not much geta me to show my emotions, but this is one version of a song which is 100% guaranteed, within a couple of minutes will have tears rolling down my cheeks. How artists perform these beauties without themselves welling up remains a mystery to me. But I'm so so grateful the world has such talented people for us all to enjoy.

Probably the best version of this song, ever. So glad Richard got the rights back. And what a time to grow up the 90s were. As a middle age man now, all these songs have so much more meaning; Oasis, Blur, Pulp, Shed Seven, Verve... Damn. What a great time to be alive.

I could write a book about the emotions this song and album stir up. Absolutely lost and in love. Driving back country roads in Virginia with my love wishing that moment would never end. It was inevitable I’d have my heart shattered in time.
