Virtua Cop Elite Edition (PS2) - Virtua Cop 1 Playthrough

Today presents us with a little light-gun experiment.
I recently got hold of Lotharek's HYDRA2 which features two SCART outputs.
My thinking on this occasion was to run one SCART output to my CRT Display (a Philips 28PW6518) and the other to a cheap SCART-to-HDMI upscaler.
In normal circumstances I would opt to avoid a cheap upscaler, particularly of this variety, as their performance is suboptimal, with disappointing delay (estimates vary anywhere from 2 to 5 frames of lag) and poor handling of 240p content, particularly with anything featuring drop-shadows or high motion content.
HOWEVER, in the world of video game capture, these devices are more than appropriate for their designed purpose. First and foremost, they handle resolution changes better than anything else I own (including the OSSC) and, more importantly, they hardlock output at 720p60 - a more than ideal solution for my Roxio HD Capture Pro. For interlaced content, particularly PAL 576i, this device becomes more than suitable for my needs, despite the problems they otherwise inhibit.
The plan is to use this setup for some of the games I have otherwise had trouble making videos of. PAL content is definitely a given, considering how awkward it looks on OSSC hardware, but Light gun games are one other example of this, as you should be able to tell from this video.
So far, I am content with how this is performing, however the artificial audio ceiling introduced by the upscaler is quite obnoxious, especially given how quiet the videos sound anyway. I am not too convinced of the Roxio’s ability to record without dropping frames either as it is incredibly difficult to predict how HD Capture Cards are going to perform on computers. Even the tinest of performance blips can cause them to create all kinds of problems in post-production.
In anycase, keep watch on this space. I will definitely have more content out in the future.
