BTW -- those of you asking about VST synths vs a pice of hardware like the Virus: don't underestimate how much more inspirational it is to have all those settings on hardware knobs / sliders sitting in front of you. You can do it all in software, but in practice you tend not to -- it's way better to have it tangibly in front of you... (my experience is with an Access Virus b).

I have owned the TI2 desktop and currently got the KC in my main arsenal. In my ears the Virus C remains the most true in the Virus sound category as it's more agressive than the Virus TI. As a Virus, in my opinion, should be. Most of the sounds that you hear can be remade with the Virus KC. Some of the sounds in the set, i assume, do use the more advanced wavetables which the Virus C does not have (which will sound a bit different between both Virus synths). Also don't forget you are listening to a multitimbral demo of 2 or more layered patches, which also gives a more positive impression on the sound. Nevertheless Alan Marcero did a very nice job with the patches, top demo.

This is just the perfect example of one of THE VERY BEST synthesisers EVER MADE. This is one of those Virtual Analog synths that tries to sound Analog but in doing so it even exceeds Analog quality in my opinion. So full and rich of character that many others have tried to emulate its sound but no one ever really succeeded in making it sound quite like it. The Virus will always be a hell of a synth in history ♥️

Me too!!! Love it’s analog fullness🥳🥳🥳 I never sell my Virus Ti2 desktop, now there’s also a DSP56300 emulator that emulates the physical chip in the Ti2, called Ostirus. You can save your patches from your physical virus into your computer via a midi to sythex converter, and that is a big deal since you can’t hear the difference in the Emulator since it’s the physical code for the chip inside the virus ti2:) I made Jupiter sounds, Oberheim Matrix strings and pad and SH01 lead screaming away🥳🥳 LOVE IT!!!

The Virus is the best sounding VA synth ever (IMHO). It doesnt sound analog, it just sounds like a very nice digital synth with great filters on it. I dont think people should get too hung up on the idea that a VA's primary objective is to sound like an analog. You can buy true analog quite cheaply these days (hurray) for that purpose. The Virus is the most unique sounding VA ever made - instantly recognizable on many classic dance/trance/techno songs since 1998. Been used in alot of POP too lol

Eduardo Rohde Eras It’s one of the best ever made. On the same scale as a Jupiter 6 (w. Europa midi kit). Lastly the Clavia Nord sounds just as good, but it’s not as DAW friendly as the Virus TI.

The reason being is that it contains two DSP chips (the original TI used 1), which means the TI2 doesn't lock up and spray your speakers with devil hash sound when under heavy load. Also, if you want the TI2 to sound abit more like the Virus B and C (famed for their 'warmer' overall tone), then when calling up a patch in the TI2 - consider deactivating the EQ settings assigned to the patch. Overuse of EQ makes the sound typically colder, harsher and more brittle.

@awayfromhome No, you can't use patches from the TI on the Virus A/B/C. You either put the patches into the Virus|Control "My Patches" folder or you send them to the Virus through MIDI.

theres a range of TI machines... desktop ie just a sound module.... a keyboard version with 61 keys and the polar which is a cutesy 37 key version in white (hence the name polar) they all have the same sound engines .. just different packages..... the TI2 is an uprated processor powered engine ... Ive owned a polar and now a keyboard version too ... they are very capable and superb sounding machines :)

@Alan- can you share how you made pad+strings for Daniel Kandi Nova 00:30-01:30? Its extremely full and rich, but has clarity and presence at same time, without muffled mids you normally get when layering such pads - are these sounds with chords/5ths embedded? Actually - I also find this better sounding than the original... (sorry Daniel...)

I can't remember exactly how I did that, but my favorite way to make rich bassey pads without being muddy is to have the root in the middle, third above that, fifth below the middle root, and a bass root. So, for example a Cm chord: C3, E3, G2, C1.

@lavakava Hi, ever since they introduced onboard eq (Virus C OS 6.5 circa 2003/4) alot of the patch presets have suffered. Sound designers, especially those who work with the virus tend to be heavy handed with the eq in an effort to get extreme sounds out of it. The tradeoff is a thinner, harsher, colder type sound.
