Why not we teach people to separate recycling at homes and put into different baskets.

Awesome video. Watching it showed me things people try to recycle that should be put in trash. The recycling facility is incredible.

just because it gets shipped to be recycled and the company gets paid, does not mean it's all getting used. Do your homework!! Even though almost 100% is shipped to be recycled, only about 40% will actually get recycled. If it's not recycled in house, it's a bad set up.

I wish they said where we ship it to and what happens then, since it's very common for recyclables to be shipped somewhere that just puts it in a landfill or worse.

+Richard Noel Hedditch Recycling programs actually do the oposite of what they intend. It's a math thing. More energy is expended adding to climate change. In moneys “it costs $28 per ton to landfill waste compared with $147 a ton to recycle” Trucks constantly on the road add to air polution. Recycling programs do not make a profit either. So since you pay taxes and most programs are run by cities and counties, (privatized recycle corporations are in the 'metal' business for profit only), you pay more to recycle in dollars than in your garbage. Causing you to have to burn more gas and electricity to meet the added costs. When it comes to the final bill we lose.

***** I think you may have missed my point entirely. Recycling does not fix the problem. !. we are destroying the planet. 2 we are destroying the planet through the methods we use for the production of all our energy. (yep all) 3. recycling ADDS to the further destruction of the planet through its consumption and methods of the production of the energy needed to accomplish it. 5. in the end analysis more energy and thereby damage to the planet is created than saved. 6. there for recycling produces the opposite of what it claims to accomplish. 7. its a math thing in which the expenditure of energy (or dollars) and the methods of energy production and the total help vs damage to the planet is in the negative of distruction side. Clearly our 'solutions' are not working. Even, like recycling, those that are said to are after analysis doing just the opposite. "Recycling' doesn't help the problem it is adding to it. You are confusing the redistribution of raw materials with solving the problem. its apples and oranges. does not matter how much material is 'saved' or reintroduced at all. The energy and thereby addition to heating up the planet is the issue here. In the end analysis it does not matter how many gallons of oil you saved recycling the plastic if it is still heating up the planet...

It is a very nice place to work at, but it can also be dangerous as when a guy has to unclog a machine and you really have to have your ears ready for in case the disc sorting machine starts up by accident while someone is working on it.

Why sell our products around the world? like we are the only ones we have trash
@hueyandmo
@hueyandmo 5 ай бұрын
Used to be Asia was the only place willing to take our "recycling" since they had cheap enough labor to pick through it and get the few useable items. They threw the bulk of it into the ocean. Now even they won't take it.

can we use the heat created to burn the methane collected elsewhere?
@RIRRC
@RIRRC 8 жыл бұрын
Decomposing trash in landfills continuously produces gases like methane and carbon dioxide. We collect this gas through a system of collection pipes and wells, and transform it to electricity in a power plant, which is the largest landfill gas collection plant east of the Mississippi. You can see the many wells sticking out around the landfill. More are located in the newer phases because the peak of off-gassing happens early on in the decomposition process. Each year, enough electricity is produced to power 28,000 homes. Collecting these gases not only reduces our need to burn fossil fuels for energy, but it also keeps these greenhouse gases from entering the atmosphere and contributing to global climate change

a. the tipping floor should have a pit... into which the first conveyor should extend.... then the bulldozer only has to push the mixture over the edge.. b. individual human sorters are inefficient... bots should do the sorting in addition to the sorting wheels and fall through grids
@SmartHerSparty
@SmartHerSparty 2 жыл бұрын
Humans are also cheaper than robots. Recycling is already an expensive process that doesn't always produce a full return on investment.
