I think this handheld deserved a lot more third party support. You can clearly see how much potential it had by looking at SNK's efforts in their fighting game ports. They were full of charm and had decent gameplay.

I’m glad neo geo pocket colors volumes had New Years 2023 sales for switch. Though vol 2 cost more and not everything had English. Library is so small that there is at least 1/4 of the games available which is nice preservation. There are also physicals.

I used to live this little thing...it saved me from falling asleep on very long nights being stuck on barracks duty and staying alert especially with no coffee around.

NGPC is super underrated. Great system to own if you enjoy fighting games. Also has a great battery life, just 2 AA batteries can go on for hours!

Had this console succeeded, PUZZLE LINK would've been their answer to TETRIS. It was a great game. I had such a time trying to find titles in Electronics Boutique.

If anyone want to complete the NGP library (not only NGPC), there are two games not having Color version, which are King of Fighters R-1 and Samurai Shodown. Therefore, there are total 76 different games for the whole NGP library. (The same game with Monochrome and Color versions count as one game)

Maybe I'm wrong, but did the NeoGeo Pocket not have any specialized hardware in scaling sprites? but I'm seeing a lot of scaling effect in many games, I know that the Megadrive is more powerful but even for programming it is difficult and the Pocket makes it easier

it was so much more charming than the gb, the gba is another thing entirely, but this console had it's own thing going on. I wish it had a bigger library, they really knew how to make the fighting games just as fun as the arcade version, and with only 2 buttons.

pretty sure I saw Faselei! on sale in North America in Chicago around '02. Maybe not official release, but I always assumed it was because I saw it at a store and didn't seem like japanese packaging. This was a better system than the GBA before they put the light in GBA SP. At least you could see the screen. Small window after it launched and before GBA SP where this was the best handheld gaming you could get.

They should released the NGPC right on the start and not the B&W version. Things would be very different. Plus, USA marketing just ruined it.

Owned one when they came out. It's still a weird handheld buying aes and mvs but pocket . I can only count 6 games if play on it the fighting games and cotton. Oh I had metal first mission then but it's supposed to be 16 bit right? It really seems close to a Gameboy color in my opinion. Sound effects remind me of Gameboy sonic was good on it that game did seem to be 16 bit and cotton but the fighting games not so much however it could be the sounds that reminds me of Gameboy

I think there is enough to make a 3rd volume of these games but dont expect anything from namco or sega. Or even taito. But if there is going to be a 3rd one there would have to be some translations on the part of snk for it to work. But after seeing what they did with the second one, dont hold your breath. Your best bet for getting some of these games is emulators with english patches. Or just get the physical games themselves. At leat there are 2 fighting games on the monochrome console samurai shodown!1 and king of fighters r1. Even though black and white, translated to english to began with. Also im sure that a gambling game or two, plus the train game whould work. So we are looking at maybe 5 or 6 there then there is the super real mahjong game might work. Now mind you these are just 6 or 7 games without translation that would work. If there were translations of some games there couls be the 2 visual novels. Then at that point you could throw the other baseball game or the horse racing game down to make it an even 10 or 11. But since they havent been translating shit i doubt it.

The reason i think there are so many slot games is because near the end of the consoles life aruze bought snk and they are a slot and pachinko machine manufacturing company, so its likly that they just made them because of that

I have 40 games and counting. There is a surprising amount of good Japanese and UK titles. The Japanese games are of course hard to enjoy without knowing Japanese. I'm actually trying to learn it now. 😄

Well after watching that, for me this thing has possibly the worst library of games of any handheld. I mean there's only about 10 I would ever even want to try, and even they don't look amazing, for instance Metal slug looks really slow.

Metal slug pockets are awesome games, with personality, a lot of missions, story (not like an rpg) and if you complete mission 2, you don't go to 3, there are differents ways. check them on KZbin, they are underrated has hell.

@@jajabinx35 Well, there's a 'community' for the Watara Supervision......doesn't prove that the library of games is any good. I may have exaggerated, but unless you particularly like gambling and puzzle games you have to admit the library of games is pretty limited. Not 1 single driving/racing game for instance.

I can't understand how can a company like SNK ( which is never liked as software house , but still it was very big ) released such an anachronistic machine, made worst by the SNK software, which was good only for very casual coin op lover already ( and the confirmation of what I'm saying, is the big ammount of "slot machines simulator's" which I found already more ordinary than my poor sight can afford... if i thought that "Game Gear" was an ordinary machine, here we are far more over the edge... I think " Atari Linx " it will keep the throne of better "colours hand held" in my opinion ( even if it failed too soon, but it has a solid rose of coin op conversions, and I still miss to play with )... P.S. even Gizmondo, it has a better and more tasty software
