I used to take my students at the end of the school year for a field trip to Corning Glass where they got to talk with one of the 5 engineers who invented fiber optic glass, seeing the happy faces of all of the school kids brought back many wonderful memories. I would have loved to have gone on their field trip, I bet it was a ton of fun!!

Once again, some great rare Freight Car Catches tonight, thanks VRF. I recently spotted the Observation Coach 'Caritas' on a KZbin vid. She was on the South Shore Line, being hauled by CSS 2000 and I had been trying to find out a bit more about her, so thanks again. Interesting to watch the Rail replacement at Revelstoke. Whenever I see MOW I often think that all the highly specialized equipment is very impressive, but those white Road/Rail Trucks, that are so versatile and can be configured to any duty, are the real Workhorses, the Unsung Heroes.

The covered hoppers at Roanoke with "clay" stenciled on the side were probably carrying clay slurry. They probably put "clay" on the side to alert people what is inside.

I like the WC Heritage GEVO but those engines aren’t very amenable to variations on the prototype’s paint scheme. What is needed is a new “Red Barn” GEVO with acres of flat sheet metal just waiting for the paint shop’s attention.
@thomasboese37938 ай бұрын
Those days are over, long gone, done... The BCOL 'barn' came from a need to see when switching with a slab-side cowl unit. RIP the BCOL C40-8M.
