Wako some relatives of mine where I am from Michigan where your BarkRiver knives come from had this same dilemma. The easiest way to combat it is to get a relatively inexpensive large standing square freezer and put it in your garage. It can hold as much as 6-8 of those small drawer freezers you have.

I just ordered a large chest freezer from Electrolux to my garage. It is expected to reach here within a week when I come back from the next hunt. It seems like accomodating 30 deer and will solve my current problem the most easily. Thanks.

"AAAARGH"!!!! You must get another stag and test out your reprofiled gunny. The one where you had to take the shoulder off to make shallower angle. I am very interested in this experiment. I am considering doing it to my gunny also. Anyways, I agree with other comments. I am sure there are many hungry people out there that would greatly appreciate some food for themselves and for their families. It would be a GREAT service!!!! Love your videos!!!

All of my DLT Two Sided Paddle Strop have rough side leather on the both sides. I don't like smooth side leather since it makes slippery and no efficient surface soon. It is nice for light touchup though. For agressive stropping like micro roll restoration, rough side leather is seriously needed. Thanks.

Thanks for the clarification..! You are correct...most Japanese haven't had venison, but if someone is motivated enough to search for it, they can find some restaurants that specialize in such 'out of the ordinary' meats. If you can at all manage it, I highly recommend making the trip over, I'd be more than glad to recommend some places to visit..!

Wako-san, I read lots of good suggestions in the comments below, so hope you'll keep on hunting deer and making awesome videos and testing many knives. Have you ever tried venison sausage? There are many recipes available, but I was thinking of smoked sausage variety, which is naturally preserved and doesn't require refrigeration. Good luck with your next hunt!

Love when you speak your language with translations, for your nonspeaking japanese viewers. Interesting problem. Suggestions: Get a Dehydrator & Dehydrate Mtn Edible Plants, Smoke (Jerky) or Pressure Can your Meat (Mason Jars). Cheers ;-)) Another successful Vid.
@eightgeorge12 жыл бұрын
If you have too much meat, you could try canning the meat by preserving it with a pressure cooker. That way you will not need a freezer and you can keep the meat on the shelve. Canning jars are pretty cheap and you can preserve vegetables as well. Looks to me you are becoming a prepper, if anything happens you will have a lot of food. The 3V looks better after you re profiled it, maybe bark river can learn from you. Cheers take care

The government is extremelly warm to poor people. They eat much with the money we paid as taxes. So we don't have private homeless shelters here at all. Fortunately after watching this video one Japanese guy gave me a personal message that he needed my venison. This season I added 2 venison consumers because of KZbin. They help me a lot. Thank you!

the way i understand it are there too many deer in that part of japan. and not enough predators to regulate their numbers. what difference does it make if the meat from culling them is actually eaten by the hunter or left for other animals to feed off. nothing ever gets wasted in nature. eaten by man or animal makes no difference in the end. especially not to the dead deer.

Amen to making jerky. Buy a dehydrator which are affordable and energy efficient and dry your own meat relatively quickly. The meat will shrink many times smaller, and will keep a very long time without need for refrigeration especially if vacuum sealed in bags. They make great omiyage gifts for friends too.

Thank you. Winter will come soon and then I will need to walk long on snow from my car. Then I will need to take the limited cuts, rib cages, back straps, inner thighs, and neck. Neck and rib cages are my newly known tasty portions. Those are heavy enough to carry back in my rucksack. The remains are for crows and foxes. It goes with the natural circulation as you say.

You should purchase a good dehydrator, such as an Excalibur dehydrator and start making venison jerky. By drying the meat, you can make it any flavor you like and you can store it at room temperature. It is very healthy and makes a great snack. You can also add it to soup or stew to rehydrate.

Wako sometimes here where i live hunters will donate some of the meat from deer of elk to a cruch whom use that meat to feed people that do not have the means to buy food . or a homeless shelter that will feed people that have no place to live or food to eat . I dont know how or if this problem is addressed in Japan maybe there the government takes care of those people but maybe this would be a option for you and all the meat you have .it will help you and help those that need something to eat
@virtuovice12 жыл бұрын
Your understanding is very correct. We are basically fish eaters. So very few people accept my venison. We are restricted to sell the huted meat to restaurants or stores by the food sanitary law. However few hunters do it and make their living with it after getting a food sanitary license. They always need to shoot a small deer on its head and gut it and carry it to the city very soon. I have my own job for money and I don't need to do it. I like to shoot a big stag on its chest. Thanks.

@NZSikahunter12 жыл бұрын
Wako, considering that the Sika deer are a pest on your Island and that a balance needs to be restored between the deer population and the environment, I wouldn't be too concerned about leaving some of the meat behind. I would only take the most prime cuts off each animal. The meat that is left behind re-cycles as nature intends, and feeds the crows :) It is probably more important that the population is controlled than you taking all the meat.
@frankeschholz4998 жыл бұрын

the problem is caused by falling in love with "micro" freezer designs ... you need a bigger storage solution for frozen food, and this means you need to "spend" money ! Perhaps you need a "walk in" freezer like they have in a butchers shop / restaurant in a Town / City ... or one from a lorry that delivers frozen food to shops. Do you have enough space at your home ?

It is less chippy than S30V. Bark River is shifting on stainless steels from S35VN to Elmax for edge holding and CPM-154 for toughness.

@BushidoDevilDog12 жыл бұрын
Methinks your image of modern Japan's eating habits are a bit out of date... Regular Japanese eat meat probably only slightly less often than a typical US/European diet. We have McDonald's and KFC all over the country here, and also have Wendy's, Burger King, Domino's, Pizza Hut, TGIFriday's, and Outback Steakhouse in selected locations, well as many places specializing in Kobe beef. As docomogaijin said, there are a surprising number of homeless here as well, I see them pretty much everyday.

In the future, cut off all of the fat on the animal. Most animals don't have an edible fat like the domesticated cow. You must cut up a deer in to very small pieces. I like steaks and chops. I take the meat trimmings into a butcher shop and have it turned into sausage sticks.
