Herbalism! As to being righteous, it's notable that throughout history that's a prevailing theme for many cultures, that the people who gave a damn about others tended to last longer than the selfish.Thanks for discussing!

The current pandemic has many front-line hospital workers worried about catching the COVID virus. Some workers become infected despite precautions and some have died. The vast majority of hospital workers have remained unaffected, and a few who have been infected have been asymptomatic. A number have fled, however, quitting their jobs (some who can afford to quit or who have spouses with large salaries). Problem is, in many jobs, the employers cultivate, deliberately, an atmosphere of stress, which has an adverse effect on health. You'd think that hospital administrators would practice stress reduction rather than stress production.

It's amazing how we who are so "advanced" with learning what causes disease, then discover truths in what was written thousands of years ago. Also, can you please do a video focusing on how the ancient dress was different between the poor and rich? Did the lower classes wear the same styles, but in rougher fabrics? Were certain colors reserved for the wealthy? I have watched about five of your videos today and want to learn more!

Wasn't there another plague in the late 600s, the Emperor (just before the Empress Wu came to reign) moved the court and government away from the city into a temporary tented city until the plague was over. The person left to oversee the original city and deal with the plague was Dee Ren Ji (spelling may be inaccurate, there seem to be several versions). I read that it was postulated that it was being spread by the rats, possibly fleas living on them, which were multiplying fast and living in the sewers. They had had no rainfall which meant no water to flush the sewers, and rats, out. When the rains finally arrived and cleaned the sewers the plague (called the yellow plague I think) slowly vanished. But it left hundreds dead in its wake across all sections of society. They burned the bodies to contain the contagion. It featured as a backdrop in a book I read and the author expanded further in his notes. Even then it was recommended to cover your nose and mouth in case it could be caught by breathing it in, but I am not certain they have ever really discovered what it was or how it spread. For example, due to recent mild winters we are over run with rats at present in the countryside, I can see that they might be blamed for carrying the plague if modern doctor's didn't know anything about COVID, so the rats may have been equally innocent some 1300 years ago and it was wearing a face covering that was the real reason that some caught it while others didn't. Oh, and it was recorded as having arrived from the east apparently.

We should all take care of each other by staying home and not going out. That's what our doctors and our Prime Minister are telling us, here in Canada. If we do have to go out, we are supposed to stay at least six feet (2 metres) away from others so we do not spread the COVID-19 virus. Some people are not doing this, and it is seen as selfish by others. I have heard in the news that China is recovering from the COVID-19 virus. I am happy to hear this!! I pray that other countries can recover as well! ~Janet in Canada

This is well intentioned and I love your work; while it is true no matter what we must strive to be virtuous this video exemplifies pre-scientific wishful thinking. If righteous people don't get the illness then why are so many front-line medical workers getting ill or even dying? They are of course virtuous. They are also over-worked, maybe make mistakes. Wishful thinking only goes so far. Material facts generally determine our thoughts; our thoughts only exceptionally determine material facts. So, attitudes do matter but actions matter more.

Very well said! I totally agree, but I believe thinking good thoughts (not necessarily positivity quotes, but rather a good sense of self-esteem, self-confidence, altruism for the sake of doing good, being kind to yourself and others, etc.) won't hurt you either. When the outside world is distressing, the only source of calm might have to be cultivated within yourself, and we all need peace at some points. Though ofc, as you said, we have to consider many sides :)

Attitude comes before acting. I am a practitioner of Chinese medicine which is a highly logic based medicine, mostly through inductive reasoning, and unfortunately this video focused only on the spiritual. While the spiritual can be important insofar as it determines our actions, it doesn't really explain how "plagues" and "evil air" are treated. For that, we often look to the treatises on cold and febrile diseases, the Shang Han Lun and Wen Bing which aims at restoring to the body to homeostasis, or as the ancient Chinese called it the harmony of yin and yang. If a general had a whole army fall victim to "evil air", he couldn't win the war, so these treatments are usually very practical. Hopefully, she can do a video about how traditional Chinese medicine uses logic. Unfortunately logic seems like magic to those who don't understand it.

Thats not what righteous qi means. When a person lacks it, we use herbs and other methods which enhance the immune system. Happy thoughts may help, but the texts for the last 2,000 years require serious medical intervention. These stories are nice, but have little to do with the medical application of qi.

What is philiopiety?
@KaiDiization
@KaiDiization 4 жыл бұрын
Filial piety (Chinese: 孝, xiào) is a virtue of respect for one's parents, elders, and ancestors, by extension, most importantly for the divine (the heaven). So filial piety determines the moral value of a person in his society. In general, filial piety requires children to offer love, respect, support, and deference to their parents and other elders in the family, such as grandparents or older siblings. Acts of filial piety include obeying one's parent's wishes, taking care of them when they are old, and working hard to provide them with material comforts, such as food, money, or pampering.

Yes, what you say is true, although it goes against what many people in today’s materialist society believe. The COVID has been caused originally by humans disrespecting Nature. Now we are being forced to recognise that Nature is sovereign over us. We will survive only if we show selfless consideration for each other. I am a Jew and my faith teaches a principle called “tikkun olam “ which means “the healing of the world”. It’s a similar concept to that of karmic retribution. Human beings have destroyed the world with hatred, therefore it is our responsibility to heal it again with kindness. At my Synagogue, we have formed a Welfare Committee to care for each other and this is working very well and helping us to cope. I am making food for, and giving gifts to my neighbours in the building where I live, and I get great satisfaction, happiness and peace of mind knowing I am contributing to their well-being.
