I am from New Delhi. I got my first posting in Odisha. I have to say that People there are the most polite and very helpful in nature. They live life in very simple way. And bhubaneswar is perfect city for those who want to live in metro but want no hassle. I SPENT 18 months there from Remote Districts to Bhubaneswar. I have to say that i loved that place!.. Especially no people like this state can be found anywhere. .. I remember it was 4:30 in the Morning. N I DECIDED to walk to the railway station with my luggage. Suddenly a bike rider came to me and asked me to sit and that he will drop me there. At last he told me... 'humne apka help kiya... Jab humara banda delhi aega ap bhi help karna' Loved it! I just love this state n people.

According to the legend Konark temple was built in the middle of the sea by creating artificial island through sand filling. The very reason why the temple base became weak overtime due to lack of maintenance during the dark periods of Odisha history. The sea has now receded and the beaches have many hollow spots underneath as per local saying and past incidents. It is difficult to say if the structure will survive another 30 years as it is becoming an increasing challenge for archaeological departments to battle the natural odds. You have explored the place very nicely and cheers to you for such a honest coverage of important things to see in Odisha.

Sir/Bro, I appreciate your efforts for this beautiful vlog but why have you put Bengali folk music in a vlog on Odisha? You could have put some classical Odia music or Odia folk music or any old Odia bhajans. Its sad that most Indians confuse Odia with Bengali. Its like knowing the imitation first and then discovering the original. Though Bengali is a lovely language with great folk music and culture like Bhatiyari and Baul songs, which you have put in this vlog, please dont confuse Odia language with Bengali. Odia is the only classical language among North Indian languages, besides Sanskrit recognized in the Indian constitution with a continuous linguistic history of more than 4000 years and is most akin to Sanskrit. Among South Indian languages, only Tamil, Kannada have classical status besides Malayalam and Telugu. Just as Malayalam originated from more ancient Tamil, Bengali in the same way originated from 15th century Odia with most Odia words and grammar in its corrupt form. Refer to John Beames and George Grierson, the Irish linguist who did the first linguistic survey of India. Hence, Bengali resembles Odia as a soft(corrupt) form of Odia. So is Assamese, which resembles Odia and the West Odishan language/dialect of Odia, called Sambalpuri.Odia language, music and dance, Odissi are all classical besides a vast array of folk Odia music. Much of Odia cuisine, language, literature, textiles, ancient poetry, dances have been spread and appropriated or plagiarized by its neighbouring states as for 200 yrs of British rule, Odisha was not existing in the geographical map of India due to a great British conspiracy.Odisha was the first state in pre independence India to become the first state to be formed on linguistic basis and its language in 1936 after a long struggle. So please bro, do some research on Odia music , culture before putting some background music. Odisha is not Bengal or Odia is not Bengali as most Indians think, And so is not Rasagola as claimed by our neighbouring state. Rasagola of Odisha dates back to 11th century and is older than the 300 years old Kolkata city itself where as Rossogola of Calcutta has a 100 year old improvised history. So its a faux pas on your part to put Bengali folk song in a vlog on Odisha. Please undo your unintended/unintentional mistake as the authenticity of the vlog is lost. And please check out some Odia music like Champu, or Odissi classical raagas, music or folk songs like Sambalpuri folk songs, best known from Rangabati song, or old Odia bhajans by Bhikari Bal, Nimai Harichandan, Bhima Bhoi and others, or old Odia movie songs by Akshaya Mohanty, Prafulla Kar, Pranab Patnaik, Chitta Jena to name a few.You need to discover Odisha, India's best kept secret and the Soul of India(Mentioned by the Great ancient Indian sage/rishi, Kapil Muni, in his book Kapila Samhita)in its true perspective. Thank you once again.

@visa2explore, Harish ji, I love your Odisha series vlogs. You have become a great ambassador of Odisha through your vlogs and your presentation is so spontaneous and natural that one really enjoys watching them and rediscovers Odisha through your eyes. But Harish ji, I need to talk to you and there are many things which even most of Odias dont know, leave besides Indians. I need to share some precious information and facts about Odisha which most Indians are oblivious about. And that can make your series stunning and pricelessly informative.I can help you make your videos historically informative in all aspects, facts which none of the Indians are aware about. Do you know, that when Odisha lost its southern territories till Godavari river, that was merged with Madras presidency, which we never got back, and later it was merged with Andhra Pradesh. The great Simhanchal temple of Lord Narasimha, in Vishakhapatnam on Simhanchal hills was built by the great Odia king Langula Narasimha Deva of Odisha/Kalinga, the same king who built the world famous Konark Sun temple. The Narasingha temple of Simhanchal was built in the 13th century, the same century, that Konark was built. There was a huge rectangular stone slab in the temple which chronicled the historical detail of the temple, history and glory of Odisha that extended from Ganga(where Kolkata presently is) till Godavari. All this was written in Odia script. But as I told you, Odisha's major districts are with Bengal, Jharkhand(Bihar),M.P or Chhattisgarh and Andhra Pradesh., thanks to the British conspiracy, that broke the backbone of Odisha and we were non existent for the entire 200 yrs of British rule. And we never got our lost territories back, just as they partitioned India. So when the entire tract south of Berhampur till Godavari or Rajamahendri(now called Rajahmundry) was merged with Andhra Pradesh, and Visakhapatna became a part of A.P, that historical rock slab that chronicled Odisha's history and glory was removed by the authorities in Andhra pradesh and instead a gateway in Dravidian style architecture was erected at the Simhanchal temple. Even facts were concocted and history was changed and the Govt of Andhra Pradesh's tourist guides falsely inform tourists, that Simhanchal temple was built by the Cholas of Tamil Nadu, which is a white lie.even as Google and wikipedia clearly mention about its true historical facts. No one knows where that huge stone slab is now? History and facts have been distorted in this manner. So please visit Simhanchal temple of Vishakhapatnam, and discover Odisha. Likewise, the Ganga dynasty of Odisha, who built the Jagannath temple in 12th century, had established their capital first at Mukhalingam and had built the Mukhalingeswar temple in traditional Kalinga style architecture. That temple is in Srikakulam district, now in Andhra Pradesh. Later the Gangas moved to Cuttack and made it their new capital, on a fortified delta on Mahanadi river. You would be surprised to know how Cuttack, which is a 1200 year old city was named. In those days, the Kashi Vishwanath temple along with Varanasi city was burnt down and destroyed by Islamic invaders. It was a matter of great shock for entire India. Hence, King Ananga Bhimadev 2, who established Cuttack city, named it as Abhinav Varanasi Katak. Meaning ,"The New Varanasi (Fortified) City. Katak means Fortified city. The same word as Kotak or surname Karkotak, of Lohanas of Western India, who were the descendants of Rama and ruled from Kashmir to Sindh and Gujarat. Karkotak or Kotak were those Lohana kings who guarded the forts. So Cuttack which was originally named as Abhinav Varanasi Katak was named to re establish the glory of Varanasi or Kashi. Katak and Kotak mean the same ...fort or fortified town. Later the name was changed to Cuttack by the British. They also destroyed the majestic Barabati fort of Cuttack city that housed the grand Nine storey palace of the ruling Ganga kings(now destroyed) and a Jagannath temple that was taller than the original Jagannath temple of Puri(that was destroyed in an Islamic invasion later), The British dismantled the majestic Barabati fort stone by stone and built lighthouses near Paradip and other places with it. It is chronicled in history that the Barabati fort, that now houses the Barabati cricket stadium, reminded the British of Windsor Palace of England and they felt envious about its grand and majestic structure.You missed out the Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves of Bhubaneswar, that date back to 2500 yrs old built by the great Jain King of Odisha , Kharavela for Jain Monks. The same king who became the emperor of Kalinga ,50 years after Ashoka's death and avenged the Kalinga war and death of 3 lakh people of Bhubaneswar and 1.5 lakh prisoners of war, by launching a massive attack on Pataliputra, the capital of Magadh or Bihar, and destroyed it and brought back the throne of Lord Jagannath, then called Kalinga Jina, that was looted and taken as war booty by Ashoka's soldiers to Pataliputra(Patna). Kharavela's rock eddicts are there in Khandagiri and Udaygiri caves of Bhubaneswar. He also repelled successive Greek invasions that were happening at that time. You missed out Kharavela's capital in Sisupalgarh in Bhubaneswar, that is older than Rome. It has ramains of 16 pillars, fort, ruins and other antiquities. Likewise, the Shailodbhava royal dynasty(Shailodbhava meaning born from mountains), that was a Shaivite royal dynasty(worshippers of Shiva).that ruled the region around Chilika lake, in Puri,Bhubaneswar, Khordha and Ganjam districts called Kangoda region, and who built Bhubaneswar's innumerable Shiva temples, and ruled for 100 years in the region migrated to Java in Indonesia in the 8th century from Chilika lake, with their entire naval fleet and 25000 Odia people. There on reaching Java, they converted to Buddhism, as the local religion of Java was Buddhism then and the people of Java thought that Shaivism was a strict religion. The Shailodbhavas, converted to Buddhism, so that the local population feels more comfortable about them and accepts them better. After converting, they renamed themselves as SHAILENDRA DYNASTY and built the world's largest Buddhist temple, called Borobudur, present near Yogyakarta city in Java. Some of their family members, resented and were enraged that the Shailodbhavas changed their religion from Shaivism to Buddhism. Those Shailodbhava princes branched out and separated out of Shailendras and established a rival HINDU dynasty called SANJAYA DYNASTY and built the largest Hindu temples of PRAMBANAN, dedicated to Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva, near Yogyakarta city. As they were originally Shaivite Hindus, hence the tallest temple of the three in Prambanan is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Indonesia was also called Kalinga(mentioned as Heling in Chinese history). And what you know now as Bay of Bengal was once called Kalinga Sagara.till the British renamed it. The Sambalpuri IKAT tie and dye saree that you purchased in Market building of Bhubaneswar, the same textile with exactly the same designs is woven in Bali, the only Hindu state of Indonesia. It is called Geringsing there. A community of people called Keling or Kling are found in Indonesia who are the descendants of Kalinga people(Kalinga got corrupted to Keling or Kling in Indonesia). Also Sri Lanka's first chronicled king, as mentioned in Mahavamsha, Sri Lanka's history was Prince Vijaya of Kalinga, who sailed from Odisha to Sri Lanka from Tamralipti port of Kalinga, now in Medinipur district of Bengal, that was the most important district of Odisha,but was given away to Bengal by the British. Hence Sinhala language of Sri Lanka has 60% of Odia words and vocabulary and diction. So if you visit Indonesia, please visit the Kalingan or Odishan Indonesian heritage of BOROBUDUR and PRAMBANAN. I would really want to be in touch with you. I can give you my email address and I would really appreciate if you can contact me. Please do respond back. You can please read the famous book, on Odisha's glorious overseas and maritime history, "THE OCEAN OF CHURN" by the famous economist and history writer Mr Sanjeev Sanyal who discovered Odisha's rich maritime and overseas history after living in SINGAPORE.(originally named SINGHAPURA meaning Lion City after a Kalinga prince saw a lion there in its forests and named it after the lion.) ODISHA WAS THE GATEWAY TO SOUTH EAST ASIA.AND NONE OF THE INDIANS KNOW THAT, THANKS TO THE GREAT BRITISH CONSPIRACY THAT DESTROYED ODISHA IN 200 YEARS OF BRITISH RULE and made ODISHA a terra incognita till date in India's memory.

Damn dude, so much of information of our history. I knew few of those like, Sinhalese being descendants of Odias and Gajapati kings ruling most of Andhrapradesh and that's why they have those sanskrit city names like Visakhapatnam, srikakulam. Also Indonesia has a province named Kalinga and our maritime history with that country. But, I also leaenrd many new things aa well. Makes me feel pround to be an Odia. But are you sure that, singhapura was named by a kalinga king and not some tamil king as being told by many?

Nothing can match home-cooked *ghanta tarkari* which has minimum 21 kinds of veggies if cooked in traditional way... If u add spices that goes on... But people cook them on specific days...
@srm4196
@srm4196 4 жыл бұрын
Because this is a family tradition if you rn't acquainted with a family n if u don't come on that specific day then u will miss it... That's d only reason it has remained hidden from rest of India n not discovered yet....
@srm4196
@srm4196 4 жыл бұрын
The speciality of ghanta as a food tradition is... On specific days every family cooks it n it tastes different as each family's ghanta has different taste as the quantity is not and ingredients are not set n they themselves don't stick to a single recipe n differ year to year...there is a base where variety of small size ingredients sprouts n one can add kabuli chana, chickpeas,matar etc.pulses n some and also those who cook without onion-garlic n at times in ghee with curry leaves use finely chopped coconut and some r more innovative to use corn form a part of curry N they share it with neighbors n relatives... So every family cooks a huge handi full n they distribute ....remember that none of d ingredient combinations are set but few families are set to cook without onion garlic and mustard oil as they offer it to God and through mutual sharing , they have different varieties of same dish... N people eat ghanta day long some even skip rice n chapattis n eat only curry

Konark is a story of father-son relations and most importantly,a great sacrifice to protect one's people(Jati bhai in Odia) During Langula Narsimha Dev rule, it took 12 yrs n 1200 architects to complete.However,the chief Bishu Maharana wasn't able to place the final top most rock.The king threatened to behead all the 1200 architects if he failed. Then a boy named Dharmapada arrivef and claimed to be Bishu's son,showing him his garden's black berry and marriage ring. Actually When Bishu left his home 12 yrs ago,Dharma was unborn. Fortunately,Dharma was able to fix the top most rock before sunrise But all the architects were scared as the king'd still behade them because the task was done by a mere 12 yr old boy & asked the famous question to Bishu-Tume Barasha Badhei re dae na pua re dae?(whom you'll save-1200 artisans or your son?) Bishu was reluctant,but still agreed to his son's terms of saving the artisans.Finally before the dawn,Dharama plunged into the sea for the sake of 1200 artisans.
