One third of Pangong Lake is in India while the balance two third is in China, Colour of Pangong Tso changes at different times of the day which makes it a lifetime memory.

In this video- EP 7 of Ladakh series, you see our road journey from Pangong Tso to Hanle.
Pangong Lake is about 150 km away from Leh and 165 km away from Hanle.
Our primary purpose of going to Hanle was to see night sky plus other reason was that we wanted to go to Umling la pass and route towards umlngla goes via Hanle.
Date of video shoot: 23rd July 2023.
Below are the activities / key destinations we visited during the journey.
Pangong Tso is at a height of almost 4,350m (14,300 ft). Pangong Lake is the world’s highest salt lake.
This scenic wonder derives its name from the Tibetan word, Pangong Tso, which means high grassland lake.
One third part of the lake lies in India and the other 2 third in China.
It is also known for the famous movie shooting points like 3 idiots and Jab tak hai jaan.
Maan village located at an altitude of 4250m in Ladakh. We had lunch here.
Momos: Rs 150

Chushul Memorial pays respect to those Indian soldiers of 1962 Indo China war.
Rezang La, also called Rechin La, is a mountain pass on the Line of Actual Control between Indian-administered Ladakh and the Chinese-administered Spanggur Lake basin that is also claimed by India.
Battle of Rezang La took place at Rezang La Pass in Ladakh, India, during the Sino-Indian War on November 18, 1962, the Charlie Company of the 13 Kumaon Battalion, Kumaon Regiment, beat off a Chinese assault. 120 troops made up the company, which Major Shaitan Singh commanded.
There is a Memorial in Rezang La which pays respect to those Indian soldiers of 1962 Indo China war.
Rezang La Memorial is about 100 km away from Hanle.
Hanle is known for being the home to the Indian Astronomical Observatory.
We booked our room in Hanle House, they have good rooms, as of now only property in Hanle that has inverter for power backup.
Tariff: Rs 5000 for double occupancy includes breakfast and dinner.

I’m a 70 years old heart bypass surgery done patient. I have seen mostly almost vdos on Pangong lake. But this time when I saw your ep 7 Pangong Lake to Hanle it’s mesmerised me , just as if I’m seeing it with my own eyes due to your simple and detailed narration. Specially Geo-tech version since I was in Central Govt job and my whole life experience was working with Engineering Geologists though I was a Civil Engineer and working in investigation of Hydro-electric projects. Regarding Rezangla pass memorial you have beautifully briefed the bravery of Indian Army. “Jeevan Safal ho gaya” Sir. Bcoz I’ll never be able to visit these places. You have shown me live. Thanks 🙏

Rezangla memorial is changed n looks bigger now. I visited it in 2018 n it was small that time. There was just nothing around. And it made me think how our faujis must have fought there in 1962 in snow with just nothing around. Million salutes to them. Awaiting Tso Moriri episode. Its more beautiful than Pangong
