She didn't convince the boy, she convinced his mother. The story goes like this: Visenya invaded the Arryn castle, just her dragon Vhagar and her, she took the boy on her lap and started talking to him, the arryn boy was fascinated with the dragon, of course he didn't know who this lady was. When Lady Arryn realized what was happening she ran to where her son was and she found him on Visenya's lap. Visenya and Lady Arryn just looked at each other and Lady arryn surrendered to Visenya, handing over her crown and the king's crown. Without shedding blood or killing an innocent boy Visenya was able to conquer the vale of Arryn. After that she gave the Arryn boy a ride on Vhagar because they boy just loved the dragon. It's my favorite story about Visenya.

Her conquest of the Vale was such a show of dominance that it inspired Rhaenys to go to Dorne and subjugate it the same way her sister did the Eyrie. Unfortunately, it didn't go as well for Rhaenys.

The Arryns were good rulers in general. However the culture of the Vale where the lord tends to marry late or die early means that there is often a child on the seat and the feudal lords squabble over them. The Vale is the only unmolested realm in the south that has never seen full blown war from the outside since the Andals . There was a succession war not long after the Dance of the Dragons but otherwise the Arryns have kept it safe for the most part

To be fair, a ride in a dragon was a good decision, they couldn't win a war against Aegon, or will have the same destiny as Harren, this way he avoided deaths and got a ride in a dragon.

The Ronnel Arryn encounter is so much more badass in the book. She showed up so fast, and landed in the middle of the court yard, while everyone from the Vale were awaiting her and planning accordingly. By the time anyone knew what happened Ronnel's mother and nobles ran to the court yard to see Ronnel sitting on Visenya's lap happily. Mind you she was sitting on Vhagar I believe, picturing the scene is just so cool to me, like some batman shit.

The artwork of Visenya used in this video is so beautiful. By the way, she didn't actually convince the son, just his mother (of sorts), and managed to conquer the Vale without violence where she could have destroyed it with little to no difficulty.

As useful as Visenya was during the Conquest and stabilising the realm afterwards (excluding helping Maegor usurp the throne), I don't think Aegon ever loved her, not as a wife. It was always his younger sister Rhaenys that was his true love, he was furious after hearing about her death and spent years wreaking vengence on all of Dorne for it. Aegon obviously respected and trusted Visenya essentially as an equal, but their marriage was probably solely out of duty.

I mean did it ever occur to people that when maegor was conceived was when rhaenys died aegon and visenya were probably feeling very lonely so they comforted each other and spent more time together visenya without a doubt loved her sister since she didn’t let anyone touch or braid her hair anymore after her passing. I highly doubt maegor was a bastard or created with blood magic I believe he was a true born it was just because aegon started to spend more time with visenya.

Wife. Aegon married both of his sisters. The Faith of the Seven hated this allegedly Valyrian custom and fought King Maegor tooth and nail for it. Despite a peace reached with Jahareys I , the Targaryens continued to wed brother to sister to apprently keep their blood pure. Viserys and Daemon from House of the Dragon were born to prince Baelon and his sister Alyssa, who loved him so much she promised him twenty sons. Viserys' own wife Aemma was his first cousin, her mother being Baelon's sister. Part of the Mad King's psychosis comes from the fact that his father Jaeherys II forced him to marry his sister Rhaelle , even though he wanted Joanna Lannister. Jahaerys II was in fact the first Targaryen to wed his sister since Aegon IV ,four kings ago...who was the first ruler to do so since Baelon and Alyssa.
