You be eating Jace upppp but in his defense I understand his fears and I feel they’re valid especially knowing what we know as book readers. The dragon seeds don’t have the same attachment or historical understanding of the dragons which is dangerous for everyone including the “true born” targs. I myself was kinda surprised at how rhaenyra just let them run amok after claiming mythical weapons of mass destruction- especially Ulfs sloppy self.

To be fair to Jace, he is a bastard and everyone knows he’s one. That puts him in a political disadvantage when he takes over control from his mother. Bastards are look down upon and there would be petitioners and possibly another war because they wouldn’t want a bastard as a king. The one thing Jace had going for him was him being a dragon rider. Only Targaryens can ride that what makes them men above gods. If any bastard with a drop Targaryen blood can ride, he loses the one thing that made him “legitimate”/ dissuade anyone from trying to poach his throne. And it brings up new threats against him when he takes the thrown because what’s to stop these other dragon riders from saying they should be on the throne instead of Jace. They can ride dragons too and Jace is a bastard too. While it was needed, his mother definitely screwed when it’s his time on the throne. I know in the book Jace’s retrospective on the whole thing is different, but this is explanation is just for TV Jace.

I also think the only reason that dragon let Viserys mount is because he was weak, injuries, old and tired. Ain’t no way that proud dragon would have let him touch him otherwise.
