I think Vishy is mostly right here. I remember some 2 years ago when Hikaru expressed how grateful he was for chat supporting him because, during his chess career (before streaming), he felt often as the guy people would root against (mainly because of how toxic "the H bomb" was in his youth).

Hikaru is so so aggressive in defending his position lol. It's exactly what someone does when their nerve is touched. I can say on behalf of everyone that 100% Vishy meant no malace or disrespect when he said what he said. There's no need for Hikaru to get so salty.

I think Vishy highlights a plethora of reasons as to why he thinks Hikaru improved so much. The main ones being confidence which Hikaru has gained as he doesn’t have to prove anything in tournaments anymore, he’s gained a sense of security because he knows there are fans of him no matter how his OTB tournaments turn out. The second being ofc the sheer number of games Hikaru has played due to his extensive streaming hours. Whereas Hikaru says Vishy contradicts himself, I think Vishy is just pointing out various reasons. Hikaru doesn’t need to reject one to accept the other. Both don’t seem to be mutually exclusive.

Hot take here but honestly speaking i didn't even know Hikaru was a top player until he started streaming. Obviously this could be attributed to the chess boom but i think most of what vishy said is pretty much true.

I think hikaru should understand English is not vishy's first language. I think vishy is trying to say hikaru is more detached and is able to play well. I'm saying this because most of us (people who don't have English as first language) first think of stuff in our local language and then change it in English so we tend to use some weird words like "validation", "acknowledged" and others stuff. vishy never got in youtube and vishy think chess player need to be private and be less social and seen in tournament as he want chess as mainstream and want it to be serious and fun at same time, and when it come to that vishy really pissed with top GMs making videos, he dont have problem if GM start startup or company around chess but vishy is also millionaire and his net worth is more than 40 million, internet say 20 but it's more than that and with playing chess and award with millions by govt. like years or 20 year and done ads and paid campaigns that he think chess player can be as famous and appealing as any sports, that's why he like witty answer and question but serious chess. Anand is legend of legend, and he when say something it matters atleast for 1 billion people yeah, so he powerful man with witty answer and humble personality

In india only top 4 players have sponsorship because they are quite famous and brand want them to be associated with them.But some good players like Sl Narayanan (now got a sponsorship) , Aravindh chindambram, pranav and a lot players don't have sponsers , and they are struggling due to finance and all. The top players also got sponsorship after they reached a level. Indian sponsorship situation is like it looks pretty from the surface but when we go inside it is like a dark hole

let me tell you all the players with sponsors vidit, gukesh, arjun, pragg. not sure about ananad and hari players with job at oil companies. vidit, prag, surya, sethu, adhiban, soumya, humpy harika, and many more. they way adhiban and surya are playing chess, if it was US they would not even survive solely on playing chess ( not including coaching ) also these young kids like gukesh raunak leon mendonca etc all had a sponsored learning sessions with kramnik a few years ago when they were not even GM level back then and its in nature of sports that if you succeed, you get sponsored well, paid well. and trust me, the situation is wayyyy better than any other country , its just that our population is too much to support each and everyone

Dude, most Indian players get monthly salary from the government just because they're GMs. And the young stars get a lot of sponsors. Your comment isn't based on facts. As the other guy in the comments said there are dozens of players with sponsors. Of course IMs don't get many sponsors but that's literally everywhere.

I guess with The First awnser in this Video He means that U coul also Play this many Games wothout streaming. So The streaming of the Games itself has No positiv influence on your Game Style. Bcs streaming is Not mandatory for playing so many Games which allow you to increase. So i have to give him right at this Point. Only The amount of Games and strength of your oppents and Not The fact that you are streaming this Games or Not are The reason for improving.

What he said makes sense: 1. This is pre tax. With tax, it's half of that 2. 100Ks of this again goes into training and stuff 3. And you do not have a long career, with a pension as in other careers. So this income has to last you for a lifetime. 4. It's not even a stable 400K a year. Some years you may not even hit 6 figures.
