Visio 2010: Stop Connector Rerouting

HAHA YESS!!! good to know that other people are struggling with this POS software as well... don't think I've ever come across another software with as little regard for the user as Visio - "what's that? it looks like you're trying to draw a connector from box A to B? well, I'm sure what you REALLY meant was to circle around box X, throw box Y off the page and splatter everything in box Z you've spent the last 20min arranging neatly, so I'll go ahead and do that for you"

Thanks Neil, exactly what I was looking for when having issues with connectors re-routing every time I added a shape to my Visio drawing. As others have said, not sure why this is switched on by default as it simply causes issues.

My shape is a triangle and even with this setting the connectors reroute when I place the shape on top of a connector.

Hi there, Neil! I have the opposit problem - my connectors go over the shapes without even trying to reroute around them. I've messed around with Behavior settings, but nothing changes except for the Protection on Height for some reason. Is there a way to make the connectors re-rout on creation?

Typical of a modern app. By default hide useful features. What possible negative could there have been for Microsoft to default the Developer tab to be shown? This phenomenon seems to be getting worse and worse. Do UI designers think people are getting dumber so too many options will scare them?
