The Ultimate Guide to Connecting Shapes in Visio

There are many different ways of connecting shapes in Visio. This video takes you through some great time saving methods. The example in the Video uses the Flowchart template but can be applied to other templates in Visio.

Incase you're wondering just like me, You can enable auto-connect option by clicking the checkbox in view tab, also you would need to update you quick shapes as shown.

Silly simple question: how to do you make it so, every new connector is automatically an end-arrow 4 pt? Rather than having the line loaded with no arrow heads, then having to run through many steps to choose the end arrowhead type. Thank you for the video, many new tricks to use.

Thank you for this video. I find that when I attempt to insert a new shape between two connected shapes, Visio doesn't make any connections with the new shape. The existing connector bypasses the new shape and maintains its connection with the existing shape. Thougths on how to resolve?

Thank you; very helpful. In general, I find Visio connector logic unintuitive. I find I spend more time struggling with Visio than actually drawing designs. Connecting shapes should not be such a struggle, particularly when multiple connect lines are required.
